no job, live with my mam, 21

Apprenticeships go upto 18 as far as I know. I will never join the Army as I hate violence. The sensitive infomation in my C.V. has been edited so you have someone elses number lol. I have about 4.8 grand saved up but I know Uni is far more expensive and most would go on living if I was at uni.

My girlfriend is in the same boat as me but her parents are rich and can support her back to college. Her mum spent her Uni money on a Mercedies SLK when she decided not to go to uni :O

Thanks Noel Gallagher, have edited.

So should I go to uni but to study what? What did you guys do and how did it work out for you

Your a donut, you just said you were skint etc. 4.8 grand why not go enroll yourself in a college course for whatever you want to do, I.T. etc? it's not going to cost 4.8 grand to do.

what other GCSEs did you get? you have only put 2 but surely you took more then just them?

edit: 4.8k! blimey you have tones of money for someone who doesn't work. seruosly although you have no job your life sounds ok as you have a girlfriend. go on holiday for a week and take a teach yourself html/css book and learn how to program. then when you get back look into doing a course at college, some are just 3 days of only 2 hours a day courses.

It will cost a lot to live on it though while I study, I don't know maybe your'e right. I really need some advice I just don't know what to do.

Mammalian - That's all I got, everthing else is just E or F so didn't even bother putting it in. How long did you learn programming, I would love to program an emulator for fun.

Escape Studio is a school for VFX and 3D animation related school. They offer courses that last for 3 months only, but cost about 3 grands each. Though the students coming out from those courses get really amazing portfolios and it's sort of like instant job hiring quality.

Something I'd do when I get a full time paid job and do them as part-time.

lol I live off jobseekers allowance and I hate signing on at Jobcentre it makes you feel even more useless like you can't ever get a good job.

Cr0fty - Did you go to Uni, where are you in life?

I am at College now, 1st year. Saving for a car at the minute, but after that I will be saving some for Uni. Not sure where i'm going to end up yet, I may either follow a Graphical route and hopefully end up doing concept art or graphic design. If not I will go down a History route, I find it interesting, and have a natural knack for tests ( top of year in secondary school, and currently top on every test so far at college =) )

*I'm 17 by the way*

Sounds a bit dodgy to me, like my mate who paid 3k for a CNNA course and found out it's a total scam (skillstrain) now he's having to pay £80 a month debt for a course he isn't doing.

Depends if the place you are looking for has reputation. For example the place I mentioned is quite well known.

Reason I mentioned it is because it's another way to achieve something in a short time and yet still effective but at a pretty high cost. Do your research before you advance, obviously.

Well keep trying your best I wish I did my teacher said my work was top of the class when I actually bothered to do any. My girlfriend likes history she wants to do arcehology at uni. I may just go back to college while I'm not TOO old, at least I'll be doing something

bum - Thanks for the advice I'll bookmark that page. Are you in education?

you dont have to be violent in the army/navy/raf if your doing something ITwise

you can EASILY afford to go to uni with that sort of money saved. im 2 years in and started with no money and no help from family and am doing ok.

your also not to old for an apprenticeship. local training centres will be 21,25 age limit and if your going through companys then there is no age limit and they often prefer someone around your age compared to a school leaver who might be a bit imature

Did the same here but it was only 2k when I signed up for it, A guy posted about these the other day on here. They are a bunch of cowboys, I refused to pay the money cause everything I tried got bounced around or emails didn't go to them.

In the end they tried to take me to court, but it got thrown out before they managed it & in the end I didn't have to pay the muppets anything & it didn't effect my credit rating either :)

Well you just said it, you're clearly able. And you will have a hard time finding work now, whereas you have savings enough to go into education, and emerge with a job that you want at the end.

Also, there are a fair few older people at college, some 40 year olds in classes etc. You won't look old xD

As above, join the RAF or Navy. It's a somewhat-respected way to receive both a regular paycheck and free career training. When you get out you can take advantage of the opportunity and move up in the world.

~~~
As an aside, what is it you do all day if you don't work? Are your friends in similar situations? How do you afford things? Do your folks give you a stipend? If I have a Saturday where I just lie around the house I get terribly bored after just a few hours. I don't know if I could keep to myself like that for a long time.
I graduated last year doing 3D animation. Did bit freelance stuff and currently looking for a permanent role. It does get tough, due to the economy and such.
I mean at least you are willing to change your life. Go to your old college or desired uni and talk to those enrollment staffs. They are really helpful at providing course information as well as financial advice. Give it a go, you never know what chance is waiting for you round the corner
Mattey1 - good on ya my sister is on the course too and still having to pay.
How would I go about joining the RAF? I guess I could use google lol. I don't do much all day, usually get up late after noon. I go to gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday. My friend doesn't work either so we just hang out and play guitar or video games. My other friend works and I see him at weekends.
I don't go out drinking or anything not my thing, I am on my PC all day just listening to music or writing music. I don't even play games or watch movies or T.V. I just seem to fix my PC or tweak it over and over all day.
Thanks to everyone for your help, you have giving me some real motivation and I'm proud to be part of this forum as most would just laugh at me. It may help others who read this too.
bum good luck with your freelancing hope it works out for you!
