Year 0

What I don't get is you hear about the Romans invading places in like, 100BC, but how did they know it was BC when Christ wasn't around?

That's a little better of a question :D A doozy infact! What year did they think it was then?

because modern translation of ancient documents is done in our time scale, we owe BC to bede and AD to Dionysus

there is no 0 in the gregorian or julian calenders, only the astronomical (and Buddhist and Hindu)

and jesus was most likely born around 3BC (whether you believe he was a miracle worker or not there is enough evidence to suggest jesus existed)

There is no Jesus. Nobody knows the real answer and nobody will ever know because people back then are dead.

I would have thought that there was a person called Jesus who did good things, but whose good deeds have been slightly exaggerated.

Didn't they define the time as who were Consuls at the time i.e 100BC = The year of Lucius Valerius Flaccus and Gaius Marius.

Then once the Emperors came to power it was measured by who was Emperor and the year of their reign i.e. 25BC = 3rd Year of Augustus Caeser
and AD69 = Year of the Four Emperors.

Sure that's what I read somewhere
