***OFFICIAL DAWN O WAR 2 THREAD***

no base building in skirmish? What a load of crap.

Not even COH style forward bases. All they had to do to make this the most epic game in existence was to keep the COH mechanics, which emphasises unit production but still has base-building... and just translate the whole DOW 40k feel and gameworld to the engine, while keeping the same level of grit as the original DOW. They've failed. Miserably.

(imho) :p

If only someone had worked on a 40k mod for COH. :(

i just downloaded the game but for some reason the intro movie is out of sync  it was like it with the beta too but i thought it was something that would be fixed by the time the game was released, does anyone have a solution?

if you turn it up to 'hard' difficulty (can't remember what its called in military rank terms) then by about day 6 and above it starts to get a bit more tricky, and you cant just plonk your squads in front of the enemy and hope to gun them down.

I'm enjoying SP so far, and atleast there is some kind of a story as opposed to the last few DoW expansions.

Some of the Wargear and characters comments also reveals a bit of the stories of Dark Crusade and Soulstorm such as who the victor was ect, I've completed it once and I've just started again I'm quite enjoying it myself.

Absolutely loving the campaign, just finished a missions whereyou defend 3 Generators from an Ork invasion and it's really quite tough on Hard, I'm really quite glad their isn't any base building in the SP campaign althoyugh 1 or 2 missions utilising base building would have been even better than none.

But I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Games crap, save you're money.

How can he be money :D?

Good Game I'd say buy it if you like tactical gameplay and don't mind that their isn't any base building. It's a Raw 40k experience IMO.

Hey all,

Running this on Windows XP, X2 4800+. ATI X1900XTX 512MB, Medium Settings.

The CPU usage jumps straight to 90 - 100% CPU usage once the game loads.

The game keeps crashing, at the end of campaigns, even the odd time when I click options. The graphics freeze, and the sound continues (although repeats like a crash) can't alt tab out or close it from CTRL + ALT + Del, have to reboot... any ideas?

Jcb33.

That's probably the complete opposite to what it actually is. Cutscenes are interesting though. :p

I think it's a known issue, check the DOW2 website.

Can't really put it into any other words, It's more tactical based than the previous iteration where as generic RTS games are usually use the If you have a bigger army you will win easier routine where as this isn't the case.

I'd say give it another shot, later missions do get more interesting like defense missions.

Anyone actually bothering to use the sniper squad? Pretty pointless. With the number of friendlies on the field already limited, Relic should have just allowed all squads to be used.

I use them on Eldar missions to scout ahead so I can put the rest of my squads in Place.

I don't use the Assualt Marines personally, so I use Tactical, Devastator and Scout and it works pretty well for me. The Scouts I find are perfect at bring down buildings that are sometimes in objectives or for destroying enemy cover.

I use the scouts a fair bit. I've equipped them with the artillery barrage ability. I can then put them in stealth mode, sneak up on the enemy, call in an artillery strike and they are none the wiser. Plus the high powered shot ability they gain if you lvl them up is perfect for using against bosses

Im loving this game more and more every time I play it :)

Very different to DoW1, and I was a bit disappointed initially when playing the beta. But once you learn how to play the game, it is so much fun :) That is if you don't get teamed up with a couple of lemons online :p

i think the machanics and graphics are absolute awesome, but i miss the base bulding, army ganking approach. all they had to do is let you do is build a base and stuff flike the old dow's and then you would be looking at one of the best. but they didnt....sometimes it makes you wonder if they listen to anyone, because 99% of reviews miss the base building.....

they have basicaly targeted a totaly different audience this time, reminds me of commando's (and ive only played that game once but it came to my mind for some reason)
