Tipping pizza delivery ppl when paying online?

if you averaged one pizza order a week for 60 years and tipped the delivery guy 2 quid each time you wasted £6256.
assuming each order is £20 you could have bought another 312 takeaways.

maybe think about that the next time you tip some guy for driving 10minutes to you house

true my gf says i shouldn't tip taxis.. I guess everyone is different when it comes to tips
NOOOOO! taxi's are the worst service you could possibly tip! ever noticed how the meter never starts on 0 even if you jump in a taxi parked up at a local taxi rank? you should consider the money already on the meter a tip rather than a minimum fare.
i only know of one taxi company near me that doesnt pull that BS

i would almost certainly be dead by the time i am 40 so its not to important

keep the change, however i try to cut down on the pizza's, not diet wise, i just am starting to like cooking

I try and tip the delivery guy from spicy hut when ordering on-line as he's always quick and bangs loud enough to be heard, but he always runs away before i can :(

what a bunch of tight wads

These people earn peanuts doing a dull job, give em a quid or two, what's the big deal

Becauce you pay a healthy margin for the food you get delivered, why should we supplement someones wage just because their employer is too tight-fisted to pay them enough. Lots of people earn prantuts doing dull jobs... do you tip the cashiers at the supermarket? No, thought not.

I order regularly from domino's on-line but always elect to pay by cash od delivery.

What I get comes to £14 and I always give the driver £15. Usually it's one of two drivers and they are always pleasant and on-time.

it doesn't really merit a caustic response

& no I do not tip people who work as cashiers, but I do tip people in service roles wherre tipping is a part of their remuneration as like it or not, that's the system

I use the same two take aways all the time and their drivers are pleasant, the food is always hot and it is no big deal to me to reward them for making the effort.

Not sure how you can get so excitable over whether to give someone a quid or not.

What do you mean 'that's the system'? It's not mandatory, there is no official tipping system, it is entirely down to discretion.

Of course you're not sure, because you probably don't think about such things in any great depth.

NEVER EVER TIP A TAXI DRIVER!!!!

a) Cabs are expensive anyway.
b) 99% of taxi drivers are arrogant *********,
3) they expect a tip, even more reason not to give it to them.

In fact, i get my taxi triver to stop me 50yards from my house so the meter stops dead on £5, that way i just sling him a fiver and leave.

I didn't say it was mandatory I said that tipping is part of their remuneration - that's fact, it doesn't imply that you have to tip.

& no I don't think about whether to give a pizza delivery person a pound or two in great depth - should I? Lighten up poindexter.

Do we need to explain to you what discussion forums are for? I'll let you mull it over for a few days... pointdexter. ;)

I never tip anyone and no one ever tips me so that's ok then.:)

But after reading this thread I just had a look at the Papa Johns website. I would just like to point out that Pizzas similar to the ones they are selling home delivery for £15 to £20 can be assembled to my specification while I wait at my local Asda for £4 or £5 - less with special offers.

That is one hell of a premium to pay for a bit of "convenience". Read that as lack of planning and laziness.

Also, Pizza chain pricing is as bad as supermarket's wine pricing. With the differences in price between, collect, home delivery, order online and the various offers that apply to one purchase method and not the other, and the special offers that last a few weeks then go away again you are being conditioned to think that £15 to £20 is a normal price and you are ever-so ever-so lucky to be paying a merely grossly inflated price of, say, £10 sometimes.

So back to the topic - with obscene profit margins like these the pizza chains can afford to pay their delivery drivers properly, and to tip for your purchase on top of being overcharged is a joke.
