Hi Guys,

Please can someone advise if there is a lot of difference gaming wise between a 7900gtx 512mb and 9800gtx 512mb?

Is it really worth upgrading from the 7900gtx to the 9800gtx?

Would I see much difference in performance? FPS, etc etc

Thanks

1280 x 1024...

sorry its not obvious to me otherwise I wouldnt have posted :(

therefore I am asking for why it is better and more to the point how much of a difference I would see...

Detailed answers would be appreciated as if I knew the differences I wouldnt even post lol

thanks

would you say its worth paying £85 for this additional performance when gaming? and on photoshop and video rendering etc..

so you believe the £85 for an upgrade is worth it compared to the current cards on my market..

I am having trouble picturing £85 for an old gpu or £150 for a brand new one better then this 9800gtx....is that realistic ?

In terms of gaming the upgrade would allow you to play games like Crysis and Farcry 2 at max settings with AA + AF silky smooth, definitely worth an upgrade. Also if you game a lot, consider going for a shiny new widescreen monitor :D

can I get a better card if I doubled the money so if I paid £150 / £160 is there a better card on the market available now then this 9800gtx for £85..?

Over 3400 posts and a detailed sig with an over clocked Q6600 and you dont know the differance between the 2 GPU cards. I’m not taking the **** but this sounds like a wind up to me.

What games do you play, 1280x1024 is pretty low res, and a 7900GTX can handle that with lots of eyecandy on many games, and slightly reduced eye candy on some newer titles.. Probably suck for Crysis based games, due to shoddy programming.

Wont make a difference on photoshop and video rendering as they are CPU heavy tasks anyway. Well I guess some rendering could in theory be done using Cuda, but I havent looked into a Cuda based codec.

Unless you have a specific game which isnt running to your liking, then stick with the 7900GTX. Otherwise buy a 24inch widescreen and a graphics card to handle the 1920x1200 resolution :)

cheers corasik...

I play COD5 , splinter cell, FEAR ..

I think I will pass on the 9800gtx

your right its not good with crysis...

thanks for your help..
