One-armed TV presenter 'scaring kids'

She's not an amputee. Her arm did not develop properly in the womb, and she was born with an incomplete limb.

her arm is half cut off....or she only has half of it....and why wouldnt she be bothered ?

why would hs be bothered about a few ***** on an internet forum somewhere who thinks it might scare the children.

she probably knows most of them would give there right arm to be on the TV and she must be good with children anyway to be on cbeebies in the first place

My little boy watches this girl on CBeebies every day and has never once mentioned the fact that she is an amputee (or has a limb deficiency)

The wife mentioned it the first time we saw her but it has been forgotten now.

Children are far more accepting of differences in people than adults are, so i call foul play on this matter and say its the kids parents at fault.

My little boy is 3 years old if that matters.

Likewise my 4 year old son hasn't even noticed. My 8 year old daughter thinks it is fascinating. I think these parents who have complained only have themselves to blame.

***** from a forum ???
its some of the kids parents that watch the show.
But parents on online forums have claimed she 'frightens' their children.

yes parents on a forum lol its a journalist grasping at any old crap on the internet and making a story out of it

yeah i see what your saying but they must have seen the show then logged onto forums...but anyway i'l agree with u as '***** from a forum' sounds good

There aren't many quotes or a link to the forums in question. But this certainly doesn't suggest that any kids are scared, just an ignorant parent thinking that it 'may' scare them.

That's the quote I picked up on. It was the 'may scare them' and 'possibly caused sleep problems'.

Roll on the thought police.

Kids know no different - they'll learn and adapt. This isn't a problem in the slightest. It seems the ones with the problems are the adults and it's this that the kids will pick up on.

This really is a waste of resources and internetz bandwidth.. all for advertising revenue..

ps.. I agree - she's attractive :)

wow shes really pretty , might have to start making my 4year old watch cbeebies :D
i think kids are more scared when they have the sign language people in the bottom corner franticly waving there arms about like they are trapped inside the TV and need help :p

i think its probably a case of a lazy journalist making a story out of reading some stupid forum comment somewhere, the article even says complaints on a forum lol

music video with sign language, WHAT'S THE POINT LOL! :)

Aww come on now, this is taking it a bit far :)

Daft.

Our kids watch Cbeebies every day, and they honestly couldn't care any less that she only has one arm, in fact I don't think either of our two have ever even mentioned it, let alone be scared by it

I think they are more relieved that Poi has finally bogged off for good :D

Pathetic. You shouldn't shield kids from these things. Kids should see as many kinds of people as possible as then they're less likely to freak out, kinda like how when you get a dog you should introduce it to men, women, kids, men with beards, etc etc etc.

If the kid asks a question about why she only has one arm, you answer and explain.

I went to school with a kid who had a tiny stumpy hand, with "fingers" about 5mm across, that just barely protruded from his fist. Once I knew why his hand was like that, it didn't bother me.

It's interesting having a child (my daughter is 2 1/2) because there's actually very little that freaks her out until we in some way teach her that she should be freaked out. On the occasions when we meet black people I sometimes wonder whether she'll ask why they're a different colour, but she's not done so yet. I guess she doesn't see us acting like there's anything unusual, so she doesn't feel the need to either.
