My TV (Sony KDL32W4000) has suddenly developed a vertical red line which seems to be a pixel in width all the way from top to bottom, about 6 inches in from the right side. What the hell is this about, is it seriously buggered, and is it a kind of dead pixel thing, albeit a load of them, and is there anything I can do to rectify it, or is it time to contact the supplier for a fix?

It is permanently there in all input modes that I use, scart, composite and HDMI. I've had a quick google and haven't found anything to point me in the right direction so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Ive just contacted the people I got it from, as soon as a described the problem I was put on hold, after she came back from wherever she'd been I was informed an engineer would contact me to arrange a time to come and have a look, and to see about getting it replaced. So its a waiting game at the moment.

Oh, theyve just called again as I was typing this, they coming wednesday, guess ill have to tidy up now :>

Yea i got a horizontal line on a screen once and they did this. The engineer came out and immediately realised it needed to be taken away to get a new panel to be put in, i got it back about 4-5 days later and they loaned me a 32" lcd to mess about on while it was away for free which was unexpected.

New panel time, expect it to be gone for about a week

Bummer, Ill have to fetch in my old 26" Samsung from next-door, meaning ill have no TV for bed in the mornings after work, and I've been having trouble sleeping in the past few weeks. Going to be hard as daft as it seems having no TV :\

Little update, whilst waiting for the guy to come on wednesday I was messing about on the pc and glancing at the TV as you do, and to my amazement there was no sign of that pesky red line which made me look a tart in front of the guy that eventually turned up.

He logged the fault as intermittent and took down the serial number etc, and told me to call again if the problem returned. Guess what, the red line is back in the same spot, and again its appeared on a friday, spooky or what. This time Ive taken a photograph of it as evidence, Ill phone up again in the morning :|

Aye the Tosbiba ZF 46" range pretty much all suffer from it aswell, it comes and goes but tends to be worse when cold. It chages colour aswell, mine was initially blue/green then went to solid red
