Seriously mate, would you give your sister's contact details to Nuts?

I wouldn't give my sisters details to Nuts. But looking at it the message has been passed along and if brainy girl wants to go in the magazine she can get in contact and sort it out! That is the most sensible option Nuts could have hoped for!
 
That lad did us all a favour by not passing on her email address to Nuts.

I wouldn't hit that with a baseball bat, let alone anything else. What if her ugly rubbed off onto me?

She can't be that clever, turning down a 5 figure sum for an afternoons work. By the sounds of it they weren't even expecting her to get them out as it were.
 
She also revealed that a men's magazine had approached her for a photo session.

Haha. However, no matter the thread does relate to the story, giving the result away to those who haven't seen it was a bit harsh :p ... it was an awesome final.
 
i dont actually have a problem with her at all. i really like the way she speaks and to look at her, well i wouldnt grumble. some of you chaps are a bit shallow.

I didn't watch the interview on television but I did watch UC last night as well as hearing her interviewed on the Today programme and I have watched the clip.

I honestly can't say that I thought that she came across as smug or self-involved. I dare say that she is somewhat lacking in self-awareness, but she is a 26-year old academic who probably hasn't had much experience of the real world and may not even read the tabloids. Personally, I suspect that many of her critics are as jealous as hell.

Impressive though her achievement is, it depresses me somewhat that she will probably simply end up spending her life in the cloistered world of Oxford, developing new insights into the fascinating world of Latin Literature.

Well some are, but you have to consider the premise of the thread and the atractivness of the girl, you would not expect someone who looks like her to be in nuts and rightly so, not that I read nuts.

agreed with you on what you are saying re thread and said magazine. but at the end of the day, id say she would be quite a catch.

If she was in Nuts the only thing we would have to judge her on (Iif I read that rubbish) would be her looks and what was written by a Nuts reporter.

That wouldn't be shallow, so judging her on her looks now wouldn't be either - as I was doing as I would were she in Nuts, as per the thread title ;)
 
She seems nice enough to me. The whole point of her sitting on the panel was to hit the buzzer and shout the correct answer as quickly as possible while on the show. She did it pretty well (/mumbles something about her single handedly beating Manchester ;))

Also, us academics arn't as devoid from the real world as some of you may think... though I don't know if the same can be said of a latin reading oxfordite, it is very niche.

 be reading Nuts anyway? Would they be looking to increase the average intelligence of a Nuts reader or something?

Hey Nuts is a fantastic magazine. Well maybe not, but is has some nice pictures, not as good as say FHM or Maxim though but good enough! Just don't read the drivel that is written!
