Im sure that this will end up being a big list :)

Indeed. If you are going to keep the opening post updated, I'd keep a spreadsheet and sort by it's acronym. Copy/paste etc.. Good luck :)

Some memory related ones:

RAM = Random Access Memory
EDO RAM = Extended Data Out RAM
DIMM = Dual Inline Memory Modules
SIMM = Single Inline Memory Modules
SRAM = Static RAM
DRAM = Dynamic RAM
SDRAM = Synchronous DRAM
DDR = Double Data Rate

( so DDR SDRAM = Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access memory :D )

RDRMAM = RAMBUS DRAM
VRAM = Video Ram
FPMRAM = Fast Page-Mode RAM
ECC = Error Correcting Code

Some of these (eg PCI-E) could do with a lay-man's terms explaination. There's little point expanding a jargonous (word?) acronym if you're just going to define it in terms of more jargon.

PCI-E: Peripheral Component Interconnect Express
or
PCI-E: (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) - a slot on a motherboard to connect graphics cards and other expansion cards to. The current standard for most graphics cards.

It's the basic human-readable version most people need the first time they come accross a phrase, you don't really need to know that it's a "Peripheral Component Interconnect Express", just that it's used for graphics cards and it's the main one to go for.

with sata what is the ata?

also RMA (i know it means to send it back under warrenty (or at least i think thats what it means) but what does it stand for)
