Doesn't seem to be a thread about this, but anyone else really impressed with the Palm Pre?

If you've got half an hour to spare take a look at this demo;

I'm really looking forward to some reviews of this :)
been keeping an eye on the various information that has been released. The OS looks fantastic

Its the only phone I'm considering at the minute, and looking at the videos, demos and pre-release reviews its going to be a stonker.

Any confirmed release dates yet?

From what i've seen it looks great. Theres talk of Apple not being impressed by the inclusion of multitouch though and possible legal action being taken. Could well be just talk.

One thing im not so sure about with the Pre though is the fact when the phone is in landscape mode the slide out qwerty keypad will be at a right angle to the screen...

Unlikely. 'Multitouch' existed before the iphone..

The OS itself looks great, as for the hardware, it lets it down.

its looking fantastic - but its literally make or break for palm and they are launching the device on a US network that is rapidly loosing subscribers (Sprint).

still the ui looks genuinly fantastic but as someone above mentioned apple have fired off a few warning comments about protecting "their" intellectual copyright (multi touch)

Rumours are that Palm own many patents which Apple have infringed on with the iPhone. Not sure what these are but they could agree to let the other use it

I've been keeping a eye on this since CES, as mentioned the OS is breathtaking but does anybody else feel its good looking until they slide out that keyboard? :p

I love the idea of the charging 'slab' as well, instead of having to plug the phone into its charger you just kinda lay it on the slab! :)

Really like the look of this, thing only thing i've got with it at the min is the 3mp camera, but its not a massive issue. Anyone got a uk release date on this, think my contract is up in the summer and i definitely want a touch-screen phone. Was looking at the Nokia N97 and the new Samsung one looks good, but i like the ease of use and simpleness to the Pre.

The slide out qwerty looks like it may be a bit difficult to use?
You know, before I was thinking that the keys were very much like blackberry keys and I love blackberry keypads, but upon closer inspection they look quite flush to the handset... Not good I think. *looks for more pictures*

Edit: They look a little better in this pic;

Have they finalized the carrier yet, last i heard O2 was getting it.

All the demo phones and the show phones have all had Vodafone sims in them mate, so I think its a safe bet you can guess where its going.

The rumours are also rife with the same thing. Info here
