I am trying to decide where to go on holiday this year so need some inspiration. So if you were to go on a trip, with a £2k-£2.5k budget (for 1 person), where would you go? Ideally the trip needs to be at least 1 week, and not in Europe.

What are you looking for?

Sight-seeing, partying, chilling out?

I was trying to leave it open for all opinions. But to be more specific i am looking for the following:
- Not somewhere cold
- Needs to be a lot to do
- Needs to have amazing scenery!
- NOT a partying holiday
- Possibly some sports (eg. surfing/diving)
This is where i have been in the last couple of years:
- Canada (Toronto/Vancouver/Victoria/Whistler)
- NYC
- Boston

These are some of the places i do NOT want to go to:
- Dubai

£2.5k for over a week outside Europe opens up Australia as a possibility, you can get return flights to Sydney for £518 when I checked yesterday. That leaves you nearly £2000 to spend out there on accommodation and everything else.

Pretty much meets all the criteria you've mentioned above (unless you decide to go in their winter time), although obviously to get the most out of it (given then long flights) you'll want to go for as long as possible.

It's also not a bad destination to go on your own I'd imagine as you've got millions of English speakers to talk to and supposedly they are quite hospitable to loan travellers out there.

I am going to Zante in July for 10 days with 5 other mates for a clubbing holiday.

The holiday itself cost £430 and I am taking £700 spending money so just over a grand this year for me.

Not too bad :)

£2500 for a holiday in this 'climate' - someones doing well :p hehe.

As for the thread topic; How about hiring a sports car in the US and going from East to West? I just remembered you dont want it cold -- Australia or NZ then probs.

Have fun either way :D

Japan is phenomenal, highly recommended if you've not been there. If not skiing, then go to Aus via Singapore and stay in a fancy hotel while you're there.
