I am going to change my ISP. I have had enough with Virgin and all of their BS. Sky and Orange are LLU'd in my area so either of those is looking like a good choice. Orange doesn't seem to be very open about their fair usage about how they are going to manage traffic at peak times, Sky look like their being a little more honest with it at least. I do download a reasonable amount, and most of that is in peak times due to work hours. Could past and present subscribers of either ISP please share your opinions as to which one is going to offer the best service? I am all ears! :)

Go with Sky,

They run on the easynet network which is very good (I used to be on it with UK online) and the service was second to none.

I have heard nothing but bad comments about Orange Broadband.

Been with Sky Broadband since last July on 16Mb Unlimited (only get 8Mb though), no problems so far, very good speeds, excellent reliability and no capping/throttling.

Only problem is that they phone you up every now and again to sell you TV and Telephone packages.

I didn't think you could even get their broadband/phone without the TV package.

Edit: Also, they are stating no fair use policy for broadband max. Is this a reality? It sounds too good to be true.

You can will just cost you extra, but as I've got Sky TV I only pay £10 a month for my Broadband.

Haven't run into any trouble with my heavy downloading, think they are quite relaxed in that respect.

Been using Sky Max for about 2 years now and it's great, the best ISP i've used.
We have haven't had any downtime and always get full speeds.

We download about 100gb a month between our family and have never had a problem.
I think it's true as i've read of people downloading over 500gb without any warnings.

Sky are good, they do run interleave on their lines though FYI, however they will reduce max delays to 8 which gives you pings about 35ms to google, jolt, multiplay etc. They will also set you to a 7dB target profile on request to squeeze some nice speed out of your line whilst retaining stability.

If you already have Sky TV, a tenner a month is a bargain for unlimited tinternet :)

I've used sky since it launched and they are the best provider i've ever had.
I've just moved to talktalk because Sky wanted to charge me an extra fiver for not having phone with them.
I'm moving back to Sky now because the extra fiver is worth it, much more value for money than TalkTalk's FREE broadband!

I forgot how bad ISPs could be

I've been on Sky for about 18 months. LLU service is very good - I'm getting around 13Mb and there's no capping. For £10 a month it's an utter bargain.

Yeah, TalkTalk are also LLU in our area but I didn't mention them initially because there is no way I would ever pick them. All I have seen and heard is bad, one of my friends waited for nearly 4 months for their connection to be established by those guys. Shocking customer service :o

I've just cancelled with Virgin, going to go with O2 or Sky. Not sure what my lines capable of yet as it's been ages since I've had ADSL. Anyone have any experience of O2 as they are actually about 50p cheaper per month and give up to 20mb with a better upload.

Dunno who to go with lol!

I'm in the same dilemma and have another post on here about it, they seem to be as good as each other.

Also, AWBbox, I wouldn't recommend TalkTalk either. They were very quick to get me set up and their customer service wasn't too bad (i've seen worse) but their throttling is just killing my connection. If I start downloading stuff one one computer, my entire home network almost grinds to a halt and the only thing that's changed is my provider

We're with sky in our student house, get around 8mb on max, completely unlimited with no fair use policy, we have 4 students, three of which torrent and download regularly and we are maxing out the download a lot of the time.

Go sky :D

I know they are both effectively the same price, but if my line wont go higher than 16mb then it's a bit of a waste (bar the extra upload).

Was just thinking of Sky aswell because we're going to be getting Sky Phone and we already have a big sky package with them aswell so would have been handy to have everything on one bill!

Thank you all for your input. I though I would just say that I have now ordered a Sky package and everything should be set up a week on Monday. I can't wait! :D
