Building a pc for a friend - he does a lot of web programming, photoshop and video stuff.... is i7 the way to go - or could I build a better overall system using a quad. He needs Raid mirror and lots of ram.

Hows this? I might have something wrong but its well balanced at a shade over £1000

Change HD to 660gb or 1tb model. (they slightly quicker then old 250gb*3 stlye ones)

4870 is overkill for web develpor with photoshop / video editing. Can cut costs there.

Gaming case? :p

Decent case with very good airflow to be honest! :)

Well with the newest Photoshop CS4 the GPU is used now and it does have benefits in performance so the 1GB of ram is worthwhile and also the horsepower of a decent graphics card will help more than you think ;)

Just my opinion :)

1GB 4850 would do the job just as good, IMO :).

Agree with the airflow for the 900, shame about the dust storm inside :)
