Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

seems fine for me, i got a message on sf4 saying i got disconnected from the playstation network but i quite blatently hadn't :D

Ojste you got any tips for me? hehe ;p

I couldn't leave until i had beaten you mwuah! I've beating a lot of people and you've been my first actual challenge. Better practice for me when i have a tougher opponent.

I know at least 3 flaws i have which are.. Jumping into a lot of shoryukens and aerial attacks. Missing my Mestu's a lot which leaves me wide open and i need to be using focus more which i saw you doing. I still ended up running into your hadokens though. I gotta figure out how to counter this stuff

Also i know you use Ken but have you done Ryu's Hard Challenge 2? I can get the crouching punch but the shoryuken never connects :(

How long have you been playing?

Only thing i remembered from my Amiga was down right and punch for hadoken!

After that i had ex plus alpha which i played a lot longer and brought most of what i have learnt from there. I must say i can pull of a lot of the moves easier now but i have trouble doing semputineknskns in the air.

if you want to do focus dashes on fireballs, you need to focus, then absorb the fireball, then dash cancel. i wouldnt do it too often but i would definitely practice it to have ready... its useful at mid-range to rush someone. no point really at far range as you can just jump/do your own fireballs etc.

2 flaws where i got in a lot of damage in our fights was:

1- you kept jumping at me when i was grounded, this is a free dragon punch for ken... theres nothing you can do about this that i am aware of, you will trade hits at best. if you want to jump at me when im grounded, do a cross over so you end up behind me.

2- you wasted most of your ultras, don't use them outside of combos unless you are very confident that i will be stuck in the middle or something. if im not doing anything i have enough time to jump over and punish. ryu can combo his ultra from a jab dragon punch (only after when someone is jumping at you so they stay in the air), it can also be used after dragon punch into super or any combo ending in a dragon punch providing you FADC (focus attack dash cancel). theres proably a few other places too

also yea ive done ryus trials, i vaguely remember trial 2... the hard part is getting the timing right between the two hit lunging punch into the uppercut (forward hard punch into crouch hard punch) everything else should be done as fast as possible.
edit- just had a quick look, yea it is that one. just practice crouch hard punch into dragon punch on its own, it should be done as fast as possible :D

ive been playing this since release, i played sf2 turbo back in the day and i played mvc2 casually. im a sc/tekken player :D but im loving sf4 at the moment. execution hasnt been a huge problem for me, its just understanding how the game works. im trying to transfer stuff i know from 3d fighters and it doesnt quite fit in 2d :p

edit2 - lmao i remember the amiga version of street fighter, dragon punch was down, up, punch instead of the normal way haha!

Haha that shows how much i've learnt from the Amiga.

I see what you mean now when you're grounded. I can't believe i did that. Would be much better to cross over and then attack.

I have a combo that i like to use with my ultra but couldn't seem to get you. I usually jump HP, crouch HP, Hadoken, Super/Ultra. Sometimes i dragon punch in place of hadoken but that's usually and accident from rolling the dpad incorrectly.

I think focus would help me out a lot more i just need to understand more how i should be using it. I want to get those hard trials done first. Then i'll just go through the focus trials over and over and also get some more combos going.

Looks like your experience has payed off when transferring to other games. When i played alpha i just used to play for about a week or so and then not go back for ages.

Is it easier to play with the arcade controller? I've been using the dpad but i tried using the analog but i kept jumping by accident. Plus i wouldn't know where to put it apart from on my lap and it'd be going all over the place.

Edit: Forgot to say. I can get the hard trial 2 upto focus, hp, crouch hp but i can't get the shoryuken to connect. The second I hit it the text goes white and it's failed. I have to go a bit crazy to get it down. I think i can do it but after about 10 minutes my fingers aren't moving as fast and i have to take a break. Once i've got the shinki hadoken to finished it off it shouldn't be a problem.

Did you get that Square Ken player icon from doing the hard trials? I'm looking foward to mine for Ryu ;)

Also hope i didn't leave to soon. After 10 - 15 games you wore me out. :p

i see you can do crouch hard punch into hadoken ok, so you should be able to do crouch hard punch into dragon punch too, the timing is the same :)

im also experimenting a lot with the focus attacks too, it just seems to good not to use. right now im more comfortable using it to bait stuff rather than actually going through with the attack... the timing on it is pretty tight and you lose A LOT of health if you mess up :(. the focus attack though is very tempting to use because level 2 or higher (your char flashes white) will mean a free combo or even ultra.

and yea i got the icon from the ken trials :D. you get a set of 4 icons when you complete a characters normal and hard trials.

i don't recommand the analogue stick at all lol :p. its good for 360 motions but even then i wouldn't bother.

I have never seen Dhalsim used so well, ~2mins in is amazing.

lmao @ that, its like a defensive turtle on crack :o

Lol, pretty accurate and sums up about 90% of Ken fighters. What makes it more frustrating is the fact that people like ojste have proven there are more interesting ways to play as Ken, but very few people do so.

Managed to order a TE stick for my PS3, the fightsticks and the 360 TE are showing an ETA of 02/03/2009 but the PS3 one has no ETA :( Tis annoying but at least I know i'm in the queue :D

I'm a Ken fighter. :D I learned a few combos doing the challenge mode. Works great online. :D

I hardly ever spam dragon punches anymore. :)

All ive had with fighting Kens is constant combos followed by Dragon Punches, i do get annoyed but they do play really well if you know how to use them combo wise because you can keep chaining attacks together which is annoying as hell to fight againts.

For those of you fed up of the one trick ponys you find in online games like i was, here's a quick tip. Host a ranked game with 5 rounds, you may well lose the first two rounds but by then you will have figured out their rinse and repeat tactic and will be able to overcome it. Having just done this i won 3 fights in a row, two of which were players with over 800BP, all of which used the same tricks over and over which typically would have won them a 3 round match. Just shot up from 80BP to 300BP in around 15 mins... the most i've ever had before now was 200.

The extra rounds gave me the time i needed to familiarize myself with their repetitive tactics and overcome them. Out of those three matches i lost the first two rounds in two of them (which would have meant a loss in a 3 round match) but then came back and won three in a row.

Good idea,

however i think that will make people Quit earily even more if they are loosing than they do now to not loose any ranked points.

I've only had one quitter so far, but i imagine that becomes more of a problem when you get up to the higher BP levels so i can see it becoming an issue. This is more aimed at people like myself, who know they're better than those one trick ponys, but still lose to them. Despite giving some of the really good players like RP2000, ojste and robert1986 a run for their money in friendly games i still hovered under the 100BP mark while they sailed ahead. The amounts of rage i have experienced over the past 4 days due to losing to hadouken spammers have been close to coma inducing, this tactic has resolved that issue.

I need to find somewhere that's doing this in-store for sub-£30, must have for the weekend! What's the cheapest people have seen this in the shops? (online is no good unless they do next day delivery).
No clues as to where from, I just want to know if I'm looking for an in-store deal that doesn't exist!

it was £35 in all shops in town on release day and around £28-£30 online. the shop that everyone claims to ship early says they will deliver to you by next day :)

also lmao at the ken flow chart, SHORYUKEN!!1
