Describe your best ICT lesson in school?

At school? When I described an underscore as "I did a slash on the floor", oh no wait, when we locked someone else in the store cupboard, the teacher was trying to teach a lesson with someone knocking on the door behind them.

Building a website was probably the most "fun" thing we did in ICT. Maybe they will learn what is wrong with pretty much every myspace page by teaching them how it's really done.

We had a lesson where the teacher didn't show up one day, it was around the time I'd just discovered the cockle fighting website.
Good few of us spent the hour and a half levelling. It was better than what we should have been doing...

ICT lol, showing how young you are there me lad.

Anyway the best computing lesson I had at school was when a sixth former had sneaked into the computer room at lunchtime and had been playing the old RPG "space quest" on one of the 186 RS Nimbus'. When he left the room he too his floppy disk out but left the game running!

So my lesson consisted of me and my mate typing into the command line and trying to play the game unsucessfully for an hour. I have no idea how the teacher didn't notice we weren't filling in a spreadsheet or whatever we were supposed to be doing.

This was in about 1991 btw

They were IT when I was in school, but teaching converts you to all the new terms!

I never thought I would get used to saying ICT, just second nature now.

All brilliant ideas thanks guys, have a number of great ideas from oc community...

A-level computing lesson one of us used a program to control another one in the network another student was using. Kinda like VNC, except this was back in Win 95, and anyway, the student was going "WTF", the teacher went over and didn't know what was going on. The student was looking it in a DOS Command Prompt environment and the teacher over looking the shoulder typed in "who is this?".

In which we replied "God".

And i think for a second there, he believed it, we however, 3 of us on a computer at the other side of the room, just couldn't hold our laughter and got caught, but he saw the funny side.

Oh, that and use the network to play Quake 16 players :D

Touch typing games used to be the highlight of my week, although I still type faster using two-three fingers on each hand.

Using graphs for surveys, ie. favourite foods, or travel time to school

Get them to design a desktop background?

Music composition?

Had a few really, the old classic was editing the Win98 boot logo and shutdown message to say random things. A fair few of them were insulting teachers, etc. Never got caught for it :)

We had a lesson where we had to use flash and were given video cameras to make a short video about anything. Was probably the most fun we ever had in any lesson O_o
Most of the things in this thread i can see not being usable in an ICT lesson :P
I remember some games could be installed onto an ipod/usb pen and then run in lessons which passed the time pretty well :D

Ummm IT lesseons were always "fun"....

Back when i was ten at the start of middle school we used to play some game called crystal maze (NOT the tv show though) that used to run on the schools old bbc computers (and my first schools singular apple macintosh from the 80's) that was sort of fun (though we had all finished it by our second IT lesson).

Secondary school the best ones were holding 4 buttons on the keyboard to make LOADS of nosie (30 of us doing it was quite annoying), the only other good bit of that lesson was the "pratical" demonstrations to make the course work pratical and "real", I stood up and dropped some paper for him... :s
