So why do Sheilas Wheels and such companies discriminate against men by giving women much better deals on car insurance? There is no proof that women are better drivers merely a perception because they tend to drive slower, however driving slowly does not make you a better driver. Whenever i see someone hesitating at a roundabout, not using their indicator to leave a roundabout etc 9/10 times it is a woman at the wheel! I have also seen women doing their hair in the rear view mirror whilst driving, again hardly a "safe practice". So why exactly are they viewed as better drivers by insurance companies?

The proof is in the number of insurance claims made where woman are found to have lower numbers of accidents

Probably something to do with the difference in the number of claims against insurance made by men and women.

I posted a thread asking something similar for this, some people said it's because woman are slower or something?

As mentioned, Women generally claim less, and for smaller amounts, than men. So in terms of car insurance claims they are 'safer', hence the cheaper quotes.

Of course that's just cause men do it properly, when we crash we total at least one car, if not someone elses as well, and if we take out any signs/lamposts/fences then the more the merrier :p

Women have lots and lots of Crashes, but most of them are minor at slower speeds or car Park Bumps.

Normally when a Man Crashes they do a good job of it and Writes they car off or does it at enough speed to make it more expensive to fix

You should let the insurers know about the outcome of your research right away, because they're missing out on a lot of profits by underselling women's insurance premiums!

It is simple economics, women cost the insurance companies less in claims than men so they get cheaper insurance. The same reason it's cheaper for me now I'm 30 than it was when I was 18.

Pretty sure that statistically women drivers are less likely to crash and cause major damage, with most crashes being smaller insurance payouts. Haven't got a source but was recently told this on a course. And drivers who are over 65 arethe least likely to get involved in a collision. Whether it's driving slower or being more aware or whatever I don't know.

As far as I recall statistics say they have more accidents then men, however their accidents are cheaper then for men. Which is annoying.

Women claim for small accidents, e.g. parking dings.

Men claim for big accidents, e.g. crashing into a hesitating (female) driver at a roundabout. :D

Doing your hair in the mirror and failing to indicate isn't driving like a pleb?

I'm a woman and I've been driving for years. I've never had an accident, I don't drive like a pleb, I don't hesitate at roundabouts and I certainly don't check myself out in the rear view mirror. Sometimes, I even go over the speed limit! Imagine that, a woman who drives fast!

My wife = 9 knocks in 8 eight years of which 4 where claims plus 2 speeding fines.

i told her last time that next time, for her own safety and the safety of others, she'll have to take some revised driving lessons.
