Bunged my new EVGA GTX260-216 SSC in last night, i've not had an nvidia card for over a year now, so i'm not entirely sure what I should be scoring.

Getting about 17.1K with the card at default clocks, with the rig in sig.

That sound about right?

Also, I seem to be having a bit of a problem with Mirrors Edge, the game is smooth as silk until I reach a certain point in the 2nd level where some police fellows shoot a load of glass, then my system comes to crawl, getting only a 2-3fps, and it'll stay like that until I exit to the menu and reload the level, where it will be smooth again until that point.

Is it a known bug? or does it sound like a driver issue?

Im assuming you are talking about 3D Mark 2006, in which case that score is fine. However I would strongly suggest Vantage if you want to get a more up to date comparison of your system with others. I think I got 17.4k with my old 260 (192) overclocked with the same CPU at 3.3GHz.

Sounds like a bug in the game for ME. Is it fully patched?

Ta fellas yeah, 3DM06, i'll give Vantage a run when I get in. :)

Yeah, certainly seems to happen only when PhysX effects kick in, wonder if the drivers didn't go on properly, i'll uninstall em, clean em out and bung em back on again see if that fixes it.

Thanks.:)

I go to the same place and it did the same, fair enough im using ati but when i turned physx off it seemed to run better.

If you were running PhysX with an ATI card, your CPU would be taking the brunt of the processing causing large slow downs in the game. The PhysX option is mainly for NVidia users or people with PPUs (old Ageia cards).

NVidia cards (8 series and up) can process PhysX whereas ATI can't.

@ elpedro: Not at home to check but can Physx load be pushed onto the cpu in an NV gpu'd rig?

If it can then that may be HeX's problem.

If you disable PhysX GPU acceleration from the Nvidia CP - then run a game with PhysX enabled, the processing is assigned to the CPU. Obviously the CPU cannot cope when it comes to PhysX processing compared to a PPU or GPU which can do the work a lot better.

However, some games can detect whether PhysX processing capabilities are present and may not give you the option of enabling it. GRAW2 for example.

Uninstalled PhysX and reinstalled it and ta da Mirrors Edge works a treat, must have just gonna a bit iffy on install for some reason :)

Happy bunny now :D

I haven't finished it on PC yet. Works sublime with my 280, PhysX enabled and 4xAA. I couldn't stand the jaggies on the console versions.

About Mirrosr Edge, I had similar problems when I first installed it, but I just downloaded the latest nVidia drivers and PhysX pack and installed them and the game was fine after that...

I really enjoyed playing Mirrors Edge, although I found it really easy, only took me 2 days to finish it..
