Hi
Is it possible to find out the make and model of a motherboard in a PC with out opening it?

My friend has an E machines P4 PC that is running slow, he is not good with PCs and has asked me to get him some new RAM. I want to check compatability with his motherboard but I live miles away so can not go and look, is there away he can find out what motherboard he has.

Cheers

As above!

CPU-Z might help too - get him to download and open it.

Then get him to select the Mainboard tab at the top of the CPU-Z screen and it should list the manufacturer, model and chipset of the board.

Like here:

can you not go on crucial (or corsair cant remember) and run a test on their site, tells you what ram you can stick in.
