Behind you... Naked!
I just moved from a Linksys WRT54G to a netgear DG834DSG

My laptop has serious issues trying to connect to the Netgear, it seems to randomly not find it, it has NEVER connected to it at all either.

The Linksys is perfect however.

I have even gone as far as to setup the wireless encryption EXACTLY as it is on the Linksys, and they now have the very same WEP KEY, but no matter whether I use WEP, WPA, WPA 2 or anything, it just will not connect...

Any one have any suggestions other than going back to the Linksys?

As above. Turn off security briefly to check if thats the problem.

If it is then use WPA and change the password you have been using.

Seen it happen before where the password can cause the problems you mention. Not sure why but changing password and/or its length sorts it.

Not just with netgear routers either. :)

I agree with all of you on this one.

Yes, turning off lets me play about.

Turning any form of encryption back on stops me dead!

I have also tried different passwords... I went on the default, but failed, I tried setting it to a few different length passwords, ranging from 6 to 16 chars, with various types including all ACSII or HEX only, but nothing helped, and this is when I decided to set this netgear up as exactly 100% identical to the Linksys in every way, WPA2+TKIP with the same password, but no!

I also find that, it seems to be visible then invisible, then visible then invisible, all randomly?

I have seen this before actually, on another netgear funnily enough!
