Hi Guys

I am new to Vista and 64 Bit OS's so be gentle.

I have recently got my new system that is Running Vista Ultimate 64 with 4 GB of RAM. Now the BIOS shows during POST that 3.5 GB is available with 4.0 GB installed.

System properties shows 4.0 GB installed yet Task Manager shows on 3.5 of Physical Memory. Any ideas?

Cheers

You might need to enable something called a memory hole remap in the bios, this will allow the motherboard to address all 4GB and then show all 4gb in windows

If this is the Micro ATX board using the Intel G31 chipset then it doesn't support more than 4GB of address space. So you will only see 3.5GB as the rest is used for PCI stuff etc.

So Google tells me :)

Aye it is the G32 Chipset

Bit of a bummer - should have researched my mobo more

Oh well live and learn.

Will save the pennies again for new one in a while.

Cheers for replies

Hi, according to the manual I've just been reading there is a memory remap feature in the northbridge configuration section of the bios. Set it to enabled...

No it's simply something you need to do, I need memory remap on my p5b deluxe too but my board supports up to 8gb. Still need it to see more than 3.2 gb tho.
