BBC story a watercooled PC

When he was asked "is there anything this PC can do that a normal one can't do"

The answer should be no ! :p

By the time he added all that money into watercooling, he could've got a faster CPU :p A cheaper PC can run the same games, max details and the only difference would be speed, which is moot in 6 months when a new CPU comes out.

I really don't get the point of Overclocking (yes, i know i am saying it in the wrong place :p), i get the joy from modding, the joy of making something quicker than it should and the joy of seeing all that work into fruitition but the actual point of getting a faster PC for games ? £150 for an Xbox is much more fun, spend the other £2k on a plane ticket to Australia, now that's joy :)

fair points but i suppose if you have the money for both then why not:p

I agree that buying top end stuff and clocking it is a little crazy but buying a mid range CPU and making it as good as the best one seems a good idea to me.

so how does your Xbox run crysis?

What an annoying waste of money. So glad I gave my tv away and don't have to pay a lisence fee anymore... (although technically I think they can charge me anyway just for having an internet connection)

What makes it more annoying is that the woman's a games reviewer and probably doesn't consider overclocking all tha exotic and unusual -my guess is she only looked like an idiot by trying to hard to look "journalistic" :p She probably wanted to make something informative about folks like us who tinker with computers as a pastime, but forgot how stupid esoteric hobbies look when treated as a "news" story. It felt like watching a documentary about live action roleplayers.

So building expensive overclocked computers doesn't impress chicks? Now I know where I've been going wrong!

same.
why is he using SLi GTX280's, a pair of HD4870x2's will provide more performance(i beleve), and less power all about being green in this day & age

is this the beeb trying to appeal to those with an interest in IT?

Hold up everybody calling Mr Emulator the geek! Ellie Gibson is not far off the mark either ..

- Eurogamer TV Ellie Gibson presents WiiFit

I call shenanigans on the whole thing. They obviously colluded together to get this article on the BBC, both being geeks alike.

Wait, so that's what overclockers is about? The whole store is about modifying computers? I actually never knew what overclocking was. Haha, god that's geeky. I'd never have joined if I realised.
