Random Monday night in Edinburgh

Me and a friend have randomly booked a hotel and train tickets to stay over in Edinbugh, just to get away from things.

It's to stay over on the Monday night and I was wondering if anyone knows any good places on the night time to go and get rather wasted. Bit scared with it being a Monday that there might not be anywhere good to go. Were staying on Princes Street, so anywhere close to there.

Anyone know of any good places?
 
Quite a few student nights on a monday so shouldn't be too bad for places to go.

As for where specifically, as a Weegie I can't comment but i'm sure an Edinbugger will be along soon.
 
All of it is pretty much closed. Traffic is a nightmare.


Theres a good selection of pubs on rose street, 2 minutes from Princess st. I recommend 'Mad Dogs'. Small place but i had such a good night in there with the rather sexy barmaids.

Theres 2 clubs on market Street, but i can't remember the names of them.


There is Mood at the top of Leith walk.

There is lava & Ignite at Dunbar St ( about a 20min walk from princess st ).
 
Is Rose Street the same as it was 15 years ago, i.e. tosh but you can stagger from one pub to another?

Liquid Roooms on Chamber Street may have something on. Cowgate/Grass Market are always good for a giggle.

BTW, you've gone to the wrong part of Scotland :)

Yeah thats Rose street.

Liquid Rooms is shut due to a bad fire that happened a few months ago.


And yeah - CC Blooms and Cafe Habana ( Both at leith walk ) are gay bars. Just a quick warning. :D
 
There are some really good places in Morningside and Bruntsfield for booze and food if you want to get away from the City centre.

For clubbing you'll have to ask someone younger :(

Definately not, I moved to get away from all the stuff that goes on in Glasgow :p :)

What kind of music do you like?

Jekyll and Hydes is an awesome pub on Hanover St and I think they have a rock band playing on a Monday night.

The Hard Rock is a must but only for one cocktail unless you're made of money!

There's City if you like dance music but it's an utter dive.

Garibaldi's is a latino club with a pole and a funky dance floor and booths to sit in. They serve good cocktails there too.

Opium is a rock club on the Cowgate. It's free entry and is normally not bad for a drink or two.

Liquid Rooms has a wide range of music ranging from cheesy dance to rock but the booze is cheap and it's normally not bad.

Can't think of anywhere else that I'd go to. Since I've moved I've not been out in ages!

Cool some nice pointers there..

I like my rock.. not too heavy tho. Enjoy a lot of acoustic stuff. Is Liquid Rooms open till late do u remember? Sounds like it could be the place to end the night... and hopefully pick up the chicks ^^
 
The hive is near there, and will be free entry & £1 drinks all night, but I think Mondays are hiphop/rnb stuff, you should've come on Tuesday.

Im sure we'll find somewhere good, Jekyll and hydes sounds good.

Thought they might have been a bit more with it being the center of Edinburgh.
