160kg Woman Forced to pay for second Seat

Are you implying that everyone has the same metabolism? Are you suggesting that hormones dont play a part? Are you suggesting that men with low testosterone are not prone to gaining fat and have a hard time gaining muscle? No, because only an idiot would say think that.

I am not saying that...Only an idiot would think ive been saying such a thing. ;)

but people are different and lose/gain weight and deal with calories in different ways.

You're still not answering the question.

:)

OK, if you want to be pedantic:

"deliberately large as a result of <insert food items/sporting activity of your choice here>" - be that Creatin/Pies/Chocolate/whatever.

Better?

That one.

Good!

I think we actually agree (in some strange way) - maybe because I've gone through what it takes to lose a substantial amount of weight, and put in a LOT of effort I feel that I can make comments. Of course every instance is different. But in lieu of more information about the person and the incident I'd still be inclined to side with the airline. As to *how* they handled it, that's a different matter.

:)

I just find it absolutely hilarious that the airline didn't put the two seats together, and in fact they were on the opposite sides of the plane :D

How about a woman who gained weight during her pregnancy? I flew next to an extremely fat woman. She was across the isle from me with her 12 week old baby. She was enormous...if she gained the weight during her pregnancy, is that acceptable? Or is that still a disgusting lifestyle and worthy of having to pay for 2 seats?

What?
If a woman is so big that she takes 2 seats up on a plane, you can be sure that she was rather large before becoming pregnant ;]

Well, as soon as she got pregnant she could have started eating enough to gain 0.5lbs every day which would have helped her to get up to (my imagined) 120kgs in just nine months!

Edit: No wait, what I mean is that pregnancy hormones would have made her gain 0.5lbs every day for 270 days.

If things keep goin the way they are, people who take up more than 1 seat will be the majority...airlines need to make bigger seats.

Bigger seats = less seats = everyone pays more = everyone loses.

Also means more flights thus more pollution and more delays.

exactly, my wife was back in her pre-pregnancy jeans before 12 weeks was up, and she's very slim. Contrary to popular belief when pregnant you are not "eating for 2", you're eating for about 1.1.
