It's all BALLS, BALLS, BALLS, BALLS really

So you accept that corporations and politicians screw you over yet you accept it. How bizzare?

I wouldn't say I like to fight the machine, I fight it because someone has to.

No money works in star trek, why not in real life?

On the off chance that you're not being sarcastic...

It's because the star trek universe isn't based on finite resources.

Unfortunately ours is.

Economics is merely the science of finite resources.

:)

The only things that are limited in this universe are our minds and our ability to transcend the fake materialism we're indoctrinated into.

However congratulations laissez-faire for taking the giant leap towards freedom.

I think you mean that they are the only things that are NOT limited.

I love the idea of "fake materialism", as opposed to what? "Real materialism".

Who is doing the indoctrinating by the way? I'm curious? And to what end?

Gotta love the meandering, meaningless rhetoric, though the language could do with a spruce up - philosophers have been regurgitating the same line for 1000s of years, and it hasn't done anyone much good yet. It's sold a few books mind you, so perhaps there is something in it after all...

;)

The only limit is our imagination:

WOW, seeing what a load of totally unworkable BS that is has totally restored my faith in the invisible hand and free-market economics. THANKS - now I can get back to my dissertation :)

That is literally communism with a few pretty utopic pictures, and sadly as we all know, communism doesn't produce much reliable technology. Nothing ever works and it's all shoddy. No-one is happy and there are massive shortages of everything

What I can't work out is how you think its all hidden from us or something.

Its not as if information is being stifled or controlled. We're not under any kind of facist dictatorship and we know of all the faults of our Government and the mistakes they make and they are criticised on a daily basis.

I don't see the conspiracy in any of that. The fact that you're able to protest and get your voice heard shows that there is no conspiracy.

The resources we are all fighting over aren't going to disappear.

Oil? The very basis of our economy and the root of all wars in the late modern era. Yep, that's going to last forever.

I ABSOLUTELY 100% GUARANTEE YOU THAT OIL WILL LAST FOREVER. It will just keep getting more and more expensive so fewer people will buy it. But even 1000 years in the future you'll still be able to buy a barrel of oil with NO TROUBLE at all.

For sure, it's going to eventually get more expensive, but as soon as the alternatives to oil become cheaper, that's when we'll start using them. At the moment oil is the cheapest we've got, so we may as well use it. Why spend a million quid on a fuel cell car when you can spend £20'000 on a decent oil driven one?

By the time oil gets back up around $150 a barrel then we'll start investing more in the alternatives.

Do you know about the riots in Lithuania and other new European countries at the moment?
Are you aware of the Texas National Guard being mobilised to prevent Mexicans storming the US border?
Does your financial knowledge extend to the massive currency purchase of Sterling, the Dollar and the Euro by the Chinese?
Twenty US states have put in place legislation to reject Federal mandates, what does this mean for the Union?
Obama has formed Youth Brigades and children in the US sing song about him in assembly every morning?

I thought not, very few people are actually aware of what is actually going on in the world because they are hypnotised by the mass media.
