Vauxhall Corsa

Mine feels as if it's about to come apart at anything above 100 - I'd seriously doubt it'd even get near to 130. Technically it is probably possible though, with a long enough stretch of road.

VXR would do it though.

VXR maybe? I'd rather stab myself in the eye with a pencil than try it though.

:D

The crack I have is that someone has reached 130mph in a 12v 1l Corsa for which I call complete ****ocks unless he has shoehorned a Cosworth engine under the bonnet while nobody was looking.

I thought I would run it past the experts though.

My mate in his 1l 3 cylinder Corsa managed to get to 100 after about 10 miles of motorway :p

Thankfully a week later he killed it by driving it through a flood and hoovering up a ****load of water through his K&N cone. :)

I reckon the Corsa C 1.8 would.

Von, I suppose it depends how much the speedo over-reads by. Not standard sized wheels maybe?

1.8 SRI Corsa C maxes out at 126

Top speed is largely about BHP, and 123bhp isnt enough.

I don't think they were but I can't be sure.

Would non standard wheels have much of an over-read ?

potentially yes.

Plus speedos overread by a lot as standard anyway.

I was pulled by the cops nearly 2 years ago at midnight on an empty M1. I was given a 28 day ban for doing 107.

The officer that tugged me gave me the spiel about the accuracy of the laser device. I declined to correct him that in actual fact my speed was reading over 120 at the time lol.

I wonder why you declined to correct him on that ...... :D

imagine that conversion, "well, i think you'll find i was going 120mph officer. i suggest you have your equipment recalibrated "

exactly

needless to say i just kept schtum :D

but it just goes to show how badly a stock speedo with stock wheels/tyres can overread. Im sure i read somewhere it gets worse the faster you go.

yeh, i got my leon to go 230km/h indicated down a hill in germany, even though it has a top speed of 210..
i was well chuffed until i realised it would have been over reading loads :(
