Buying a PS3 today should I ?

thinking of buying a PS3 today (80gb) model £300 with a game or 2.

only reason being that I recently got a 37" plasma and fancy seeing what all the fuss is about with blue ray etc.

Also if I do buy one. What games are paramount to get.

When I had a PS2 I used to enjoy games such as grand theft auto (but is saints row 2 better?). Tom Clancys rainbow six. MGS etc games,

Just dont want to waste money on games and find I dont enjoy them. Whats the main games out there to get.
 
I love my PS3, spent yesterday after work playing KZ2, it's awesome.

Games to get would be, imo:

MGS4
Killzone 2
Uncharted
Ratchet And Clank
 
I would try out the demo's on the Playstation Store to see what games you like before buying them. There's a demo for a lot of games but not all of em though so just ask on here for advice regarding those games.

Re: GTAIV vs SR2, this is purely subjective as some prefer one and some the other. GTAIV has taken a more darker and more realistic route from the previous games but it's still a quality title imo. SR2 has gone the opposite direction and is about daft fun - I didn't get on with it, but many think it's better.
 
Well I may buy it today. Just I know some shops do a package, but i may not want whats in that package. decisions decisions.....
 
if you can stretch an extra 30 quid one of the major store chains is doing

not played farcry 2 but the other 2 games are good

If you can afford it then yes its a great bit of kit, as for games what are you other gaming platforms ie Pc/360 etc? If you are only a PC gamer I would give these games ago.

Also plenty of demoes of other games to play on the PSN, not all PSN games have demoes so have a read up and see what you like. If you get Killzone 2, dont get another FPS game as KZ2 controls differently to most and it will make getting use to the control pad harder.

No I have no other games machine. I have of course a computer. Like a bit of BF2 now and then on line.


MMMM interesting. Wonder who that chain is then ???

Yeah I get that but he doesn't NEED to buy games straight away as there's plenty of demos on the Store to keep him going for a day or two until he has checked them out.

This is what made me suggest demos.
 
Didnt buy it today. I haggled in a game shop. £329 for PS3, with one controller, killzone 2, far cry 2 and gta. But I wanted them to throw in a HDMI cable FOC but they could not. So may go back. Who knows, no rush....

You have to try and get things extra dont you ;)
 
Yes I am noticing that, on fleabay. There is some locally to me with lots of games for roughly the same price as I may spend brand new.

I am not too bothered about the size of the HD as I know you can easily change that though.
