Why you don't pay for a car you haven't even seen.

How do you know exactly?

I don't question her previous cars I do question her speeding claims and the fact she handed over the cash.

because she comes to aberdeen car meets and she'd been talking to us about the csl for ages and she does have the cash (or did), not sure about the whole speeding thing

What's to question about the speeding claim?

You sell a car, you send the logbook off to the DVLA (which may or may not be done in a timely manner, this person doesn't seem like the kind of person who pays much attention), the DVLA sit on it for 4 weeks and then send a new logbook to the new owner.

If at any time during those 4+ weeks the new owner gets a speeding ticket, the police ask for the DVLA for the registered keeper details and the DVLA send back whoever is in their records. Then they send a NIP to that person. On the NIP is a section you fill in labelled "I sold the car to _____ on __/__/__" that you tick and fill in the new keepers address.

Thanks, I'm well aware how the log book process works and the fact than liability can still be assoicated with the previous owner until 'systems' catch up, I've sold enough cars over the years to be totally clear on these things and I've seen enough claims both on forums and in the years before from people who like to embelish a situation and I feel this is another. Time will tell who is right...

Shhhh, shh shhhh.

All I'm saying is it's hardly a great setback. You just fill in a form and post it back, it costs you 36p and a few minutes of your time. Compared to losing 30 grand to some Nigerian con artist it's nothing and fails to add any "woe is me" points to her sob story.

I sense you miss the point....I take issue with her asertion that she has lost 30 thousand pounds more than anything else. She is a 22yo who seems to have no real issue with loosing £30K and is simply putting it down to experience and is now off to buy a normal M3. Body of evidence and experience suggests something fishy but who knows. Watch this space as I keep saying and all will become clear...

Dunno why she hasn't just splashed out on one of the other numerous CSLs for sale on that site... or maybe 'she' will after she's dealt with her £1000 fixed penalty...

It seems the thread has gone and said 22yo lass has been uncovered as having a 'broad' imagination. Seems my "wait and see" was as insightful as ever...

So what do think the idea behind posting the I've been conned thread was then, was she just looking for internet attention? Seems a bit sad if she was.

She's possibly been talking about buying a CSL for however long and finally realised she cant afford it, so created this story to give her an excuse to buy a cheaper alternative. Possibly.

Pretty sure most people had suspicions - just not everyone posts exactly what they're thinking out of respect... :)
