Sony "purposefully" make the PS3 hard to develop for

sorry i thought you where on about the 3 games mentioned above in Margarets post, only played one of the modes on kz2 but it did nothing for me i really did try to like it but it just couldnt hold me, each to there own i guess

Margarets post doesn't mention gears2
You only played one of the modes on KZ2? So you didn't play through the story yet you rolleyes at Margaret saying the story is better than Gears or COD4??

I wasn't particularly talking about the story being better in KZ2 vs Gears and Call of Duty, but neither of them games capture all out destruction as well as Killzone 2. ;) When you pack in the amazing visuals and audio work it brings everything into a complete package.

I'm not sure about Gears of War 2 as I didn't bother finishing it, I just found it rather boring and past its sell by date.

As for multiplayer Killzone 2 is also better, Call of Duty 4 aims for you (on consoles) and Gears of War 2 is a buggy POS.

Look - they're Japanese. You don't admit you made a boob. That's losing face. If you lose face, you have to commit ritual disembowelling. :D

The single player on COD4 is not great. online COD4 is a fantastic game, but the single player is very meh. Especially considering the previous COD games by IW which where fantastic. COD is probably still one of my favorite single player shooters ever.

It's horses for courses. I completed KZ2 single player last night and I have to admit, completely underwhelmed. Single player wise I much prefered both Gears and COD4, but multiplayer KZ2 is great. Totally redeeming factor in my case.

I only wish the SP in COD4 didn't have respawning enemies and invisible walls. Those two things really made me not like it.

When it means that you're seeing MGS4 in 2008 instead of 2007, you should start caring.

so are you saying every game that gets delayed is because developers don't know how to code for the system? Games get delayed all the time, for many reasons.

I thought it was a brilliant single player game.

I think what mainly got me with COD4 was how it just kinda stopped, and with the sniper section they didn't explain how to do it.

I thought KZ2 recreated the sense of battle as good if not beter than COD (1) had managed, think COD4 just lost a wee bit of it.

But as said, horses for courses.

PS2 was the exact same, didn't hurt that.

As soon as I read the op I went to post this.

What Hirai is saying is that he doesn't see the point in having the console make a bang early and die out due to everything being the game after. By working this way content releases will improve in standard as developers consistently working with the kit will be able to do more over the years as they become more familiar with it.

The Half Life series is a prime example of this and we all know that the Source engine is one of the most versatile game engines out there. The construction kit is also extremely user friendly.

I can't coment on the KZ2 single player campaign as I'm still at the beginning of the game!

As I always say I don't think it's easy to judge a COD game on Veteran. I played 4 first time on vet and hated the story and game. I thought it was total pap. That's down to the amount of time a level can take and by the time I finished a level I'd forgotten what I was achieveing anyway. Then you have the levels of pure frustration with respawns and grenades.

Having replayed it on a lower level it's far easier to see how much better the SP experience can be.

The trouble is they keep chucking all the achieves on vet so I keep going with the frustration. If they did what they do in other games and just chuck the last 100 on the hardest level I probably wouldn't bother :D

I saw the adverts and watched the youtube stuff on killzone last night, I've had to hide my wallet from myself today.

Call of Duty just feels like you are floating all over the place, Killzone 2 just made the war feel much more real and meaty. (weight of the controls is actually nice, although Alternate 2 control scheme feels like a must have to enjoy it)

Although my main gripe with Call of Duty 4 is that the game is simply being milked, it hasn't changed at all gameplay wise since 2.

To be fair with the next Modern warfare most people will just want the multiplayer update rather than really caring that much about the SP. Oh and a beefed up zombie mode would be awesome.

That article in the OP is a load of crap.

360 - 28m units - 39 months = 717948 units / month
PS3 - 20m units - 27 months = 740740 units / month

PS3 is outselling the 360 consistently month on month despite costing in some cases twice as much.

Not surprised they didn't include that to be honest. The article seems very anti-Sony from the beginning and is spun in a way that tells only half of a story.

As someone has mentioned in the comments:

He understands long-term thinking and quality control.

Too many developers these days seem to be afraid to actually learn something new :p.

Yeah not great reporting but honestly even with the lead most people expected the Ps3 to be far in the lead by now. Most expect the PS3 to outsell the 360, I don't think thats ever been in doubt. It's how long it's taken to happen thats been the big surprise.

KZ2 also has the best AI since FEAR IMO
