I always feel Domino's is really expensive for what you get? Perhaps I'm just being tight?

Must admit I'm not a Pizza Hut fan either - our local one sounds exactly like the one the OP mentioned, the foods far too greasy for my liking :(

where you at monks cross by any chance  had some bad times at pizza hut there myself one of the times it made my GF violently sick at the side of the road on the way home that was the last time we ate at PH

All of those big chain Pizza shops are not the best. I like Dominos, but Pizza hut is very very overpriced, papa johns is dire, not enough toppings and the base is too thin, as well as being very overpriced. Give me an independant pizza shop anytime!

i would have waited 5 minutes max from being outside pizza hut to getting a table at 5.01 i walk off, tbh, you can easily just not eat for an hour until you find another place.

that said you should have refused to pay and just walked off, at the end that is

Never do understand why it's so bad here. I've only had it twice, and just refuse to go there again. The one time I ordered was just terrible. But in India, Pizza Hut is great. Infintley better than dominos who skimp out majorly on the toppings. Here on the other hand, dominos is miles better.

Having had worked at Pizza Hut for around 3 years and know a lot about what goes in the food, I now refuse to go eat in any now. :p

In answer to the thread title, No it is not always this shocking. You simply went to a busy place at a busy time and experienced a sequence of events particular to that moment in time which lead you to form an opinion of that particular establishment, with sufficient severity for you to decide to extrapolate it to the entire chain and post about it.

Sad thing is that within 5 mins of where you were, they are half a dozen very good food pubs.

Plus, you were only a 5 minute drive from York city centre so after being told that it was a 15 minute I would have gone elsewhere anyway.

Monk Cross Pizza Hut is pretty bad, the ones in the city centre its self are good.

In terms of it tasting like a netto pizza, I've never had a problem with them unless you don't like salty full of MSG pizza as it does tend to make you think it tastes good and make your mouth water.

Me and the gf were out near york at the weekend, at a retail park which was quite out of the way so she could look at shoes/tops :(, anyway because it was a fair way from anywhere we decided to have a meal there to save having to drive around looking for anywhere else, the only eatery there being Pizza Hut. Oh my god it was the most god awful experience ever, went something like this:
1)Queue to get in was half an hour not 15 mins like the guy told us
2)Wait for Starters was a further half an hour and they classed "salad" as a couple of slices of rubbery cheese and couple of slices of tomato
3) Waited for main course for another half an hour, then asked waiter if we had been forgotten about and waiter says not to worry he'll check.
4) ANOTHER half an hour later he comes back and says dreadfully sorry but they mustve got it mixed up as they have not made it yet (by this point im starting to get very annoyed)
5) After another half an hour wait pizza arrives.
6)Pizza tastes like what i imagine a Nettos own brand pizza would taste like, so i leave most of it
7)We get the meal for free which is the minimum i would expect as we have now wasted close to 3 hours in the hell-hole.

Truly THE worst eating experience i have ever had, is it always like this? If it is i really don't know how this crap chain survives.

I quite like Pizza hut pizza as it goes, its easily on par with domino's and the other fast pizza places around here.

The restaurant itself i have had mixed experiences, but on the whole it has always been acceptable.

From your timeline it looks as though you waited 2-1/2 hours for a pizza. I'm not sure your problem was with the restaurant. ;)

Timeline doesn't include time it took to wait for gf to eat pizza and signing of various bits of paper so we could get the "meal" for free :p

Me and my gf ordered for delivery about 3 months ago. The pizza was very greasy and sub-standard. Domino's rules.

Btw why does ft w come up as ***?

Had a similar experience recently, but what made it even more frustrating is that the place was half empty, just smeeed to have no staff.

Amongst our pizza dishes we thought we would try one of the new pasta dishes too, the meatballs. I dont no if anybody else has had them yet but they were truly the most pathetic thing I have ever tasted. The meatballs were the size of maltesers and were just soft mushy pieces of ratmeat. Will never be returning again.
