Canon 70-200mm f/4 L Lens

Hello all,

Can anyone find this used lens? When I bought my camera there were a few about for around £300, now they've all seemed to of dissapeared. So far I've tried talkphotography.co.uk and avforums.com.

I had a quick look at the LCE, but that seemed a bit expensive for other lenses and they didn't have the Canon 70-200mm.

Is there anywhere I've missed?
 
I bought a nearly brand new one from gumtree with a UV filter, the guy had only used it once, I paid ~£350 for it.

It's the lens equivalent of a Q6600 - however, it's made me want to go out and replace it with a F/2.4L IS :P

i guess you mean the F2.8.....
 
When I was using my f4, I did comparison shots with the f2.8 and the f4 held it's ground well. Very very similar results But in low light situations, the f2.8 really shines!

I've got the Canon 30D too, really nice camera. I've outgrown the kit lens after my 2nd outing with it.
 
I have just sold this lens the IS version with my canon 5d this week. Supremely good lens.

If you can stretch out to the f2.8 lens go for it, but it is a lot more.
 
I've been reading so much in to this photography malarky you wouldn't believe. I'm relatively new when it comes to going out and shooting, but I know a fair bit about them as a couple of my mates are really in to it.

This lens is supposed to be awesome, after using my mates I tend to agree :)

I think it's a great beginner lens despite being a "L", I have learnt most the basics from it rather than the 17-85mm kit lens (e.g. sharper pics etc), one thing I got which I love for it is a Gorillapod SLR Zoom and a Manfrotto 484RC2 ball head, which is fantastic for taking around with me :)
 
Prices have gone up, and second hand market has followed. Best of luck finding one for £300
 
Check photography-on-the.net ... plenty of good chaps over there. Canon_bob was a legend to me.
 
I got mine for £305 off the MM a few months ago, and it's awesome. I love it.
As mentioned though, second hand prices have gone up thanks to all the market rubbish. Tempted even to sell mine for some easy cash ;)

Did the exact same, funny to think Its possible to make a profit on 3rd hand stuff.
 
Mifsuds have one listed on their site at £399. ffordes normally have one or two as well but I can't get on their site to look at the moment.
