ATi slashing 4800 prices this week

Very very nice drop, gonna try to get my brother to buy one, i've been very very happy with mine :D Hopefully this means that AMD have yields up so they still make a good profit on these cards.
 
This would surely make 4850s about £80-100ish ?

And 4870 512megs for about £130-140ish then ? Either way a welcome change lets hope Ocuk update the news page soon cos thats still a most impressive cut in prices.
 
You will have a long wait as the prices you are seeing now are the cheapest prices, after the stock has gone the price may even go up.
 
I was just about to order the 4870 1GB thats on special this week. I think I'll hang fire for a little while longer to see what happens.

AMD will have to produce a lot of these to keep up with demand, it would be stupid for them to not bump up production now?
 
The current price on OcUK is good already, when you think on release they were about £200 and most things have gone up.

Lol with the new Ati being released in April I seriously doubt that, this happens every time a new card is released, Panic buy now when there gone there gone and then next week there £20 cheaper. And theres no shortage, they will get cheaper maybe not at overclockers.
Nice sales pitch though.
 
It is possible to be on different rebate schemes, buy at different times and get a price reduction greater than this.

Nothing has even been confirmed from AMD that this is going to happen, very easy for a press release to get confused and this number come out of the other side.

4870 pricing will not be going any lower and there is no price drop from AMD at this time. :/

This is usually true, but i missed out on a nice cheap GTX 280 due to this reasoning and they havent come back in stock at OCUK and are almost as expensive as the GTX 285 where they are still available :(
 
I agree this can happen but over the years and many purchases from overclockers have happened to me in the way I described, it was Gibbo using his sales talents in the past lol, sadly Im entitled to free postage under my Actual forum name of Rizz but cant get my password back and no admin would send it to me, so I use a competitor now unless oc can bring something in cheaper with delivery.
