Torres injuries cost us - Benitez

I read a few times in articles Liverpool minus Gerrard equals Everton. I think that flatters Liverpool ;)

I think having torres injured has hurt liverpool badly, it was Rafa's job to find cover for him. He failed.

Torres is awesome, but I do believe his injuries are just caused by the rigours of the premier league. He's more used to 5 minute breaks rolling on the floor. I doubt he's been kicked as much and you can see defenders have him read a lot better this year.

He's definately struggling this year.

I hope he stays fit next year.

There's no story there tbh. The question was put to him, he answered it honestly. It's not like he's actively seeking to use Torres' injuries as an excuse.

The mans dilusional. As mentioned, if they lost Gerrard or Torres they look like a mid table side. They are boring to watch for the most part and have no depth in their squad. If you are as good a side as benitez seems to think they are then you will do well in spite of injuries because the other players with step up to the plate.

Liverpool will finish 3 if not 4th by the end of the season. Hopefully benitez will be fired and all will be well with the world.

Liverpool have a squad that is pathetic. Take the first 11 players out and you have a league 2 side. All (most) the clubs in the top half of the table have a squad of at least 18+ players at premier league level.

Liverpool are only ever going to win cups.

Your own fault you ****.

You have one out and out striker and insist on playing those in your squad suited to the striker role, on the wings.

Why Liverpool fans put up with him I'll never know.

Standard crap reporting tbh, yes losing Torres probably did make a difference, but as he says all teams have injuries.

"Maybe if Torres had not been injured so much things would be different, but we cannot change the situation now. Everybody has players who get injured.
Can't see much to argue with there.

He's using Torres as a scapegoat to cover his failings as a manager to find adequate cover in that position, Liverpool have the squad depth of a childs play pool.

FACT

He's right tho, If we had Torres' goals this year, we would be top, he's hardly played this season, we had a replacement for 20 mill who couldnt cut it (same goal tally as the mighty voronin) so who can blame him.

At the end of the day, we have been punching above our weight this season, Id like to see the other teams that you guys are claiming have 18+ premiership quality player, not even chelsea have that ffs, get some some ****ing perspective.

Agree but when you look at some of the posts people make whenever Benitez even opens his mouth these days it makes the reporting look fantastic in comparison.

Edit: Don't even know why this is even thread worthy but the hypocrisy from the Mancs makes me laugh. What would you have won without Ronaldo last season?

Manu are the only club with spare players that can come in and do a quality job.

It's shown that Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool don't have 18.

Villa certainly don't and nor do everton. Everton are in the top half and barely have 11 premier league quality players. Wigan are in the top half, do they have 18. Do wigan even have 5?

I supposed it comes down to how versatile your squad is when players get injured. Liverpool don't seem to have any. That as a squad comes down to the manager.

1.VDS
2.Foster
3.PIG
4.Ferdinand
5.Brown
6.Rafael
7.Neville
8.Evans
9.Vidic
10.Evra
11.O'Shea
12.Anderson
13.Giggs
14.Nani
15.Park
16.Hargreaves (exclude him if you want to knock out long term injuries)
17.Fletcher
18.Carrick
19.Scholes
20.Ronaldo
21.Tevez
22.Rooney
23.Berbatov
24.Welbeck

I've left out a couple like fabio, rodders and tosic as they haven't really proved it yet although i do think they could do a job for a premier league team, but i'm pretty confident that all the above players could do a job for a non relegation candidate team in the premiership.

*i didn't know if wohoo was including united in his other clubs like chelsea
