oil flush

Best thing to do is give it a drive up the motorway in a lower gear than usual. This will get the temps up, oil flowing which helps to dislodge build ups, then drain the oil while still fairly hot (less viscose) but don't burn yourself :p

The guys in our Motor Vehicle department told me not to bother when I got a 'free' bottle of flush with some oil I bought.

flushing is more for vehicles with problems rather then a service item.

flushed a clio today and the oil that came out after running with the flush on a fast idle for half an hour was thick enough to use as underseal.

As above flush is not very welcomed.

I've read stories of it knackering engines in cars, flushing out the carbon seal between the rings and the bore

Just go for a nice drive before hand so the oil is nice and warm, It'll flow out lovely then

I put a can of this stuff into my (warm engine and oil) oil which thins it out a treat. Fast idle the engine for 10mins then drain it all. Seems to drain out nicer.
