39.99 is outright robbery from steam, I can buy it from play posted for 29.99, why on earth would I consider steam for £10 more?

it wants you to activate over steam when you install yup. If you don't usually use steam then I think you can run steam in 'offline' mode after its installed.

If you have purchased Empire as a digital download...You will be able to activate your digital copy and play Empire on Tuesday 3rd March from 18:00 CET / 09:00 PST.

If you have purchased a boxed copy...You will be able to activate your boxed copy of Empire and play on Wednesday 4th March.

Do people find it quite annoying that you wait 2 years for a great RTS game and then 3 arrive at the same time i.e. CoH:Tales of valor; E:TW; Panzers: Cold War? Must buy all three but will certainly not have enough time to devote to all 3

Nah, I dont generally like RTS, so the other two dont terribly appeal to me. Its the turn based strategy of E:TW for me all the way !
