Brake pads replacement .. really?

A year or so ago, I worked for a vehicle leasing company,
& the average life expectacy of pads on the Focus & Mondeos we leased out, was around 15 - 20K

We had a few need pads & discs after 20K.

End of the day, it all comes down to how the car has been driven.

lol, so we have done well then!!! :D

the car was previously a rent-a-car for Hertz until 12k after that it has all been my and my wife's mileage.

Seems kind of expensive to me, pads cost 35 and it will take 10 mins labour to fit them.
yeah, but theyre probably charging an hour anyway.

do you not know anybody who has the capacity to change brake pads, OP? you must know some mate or family member who could do it for beer tokens.

pads in 10 minutes but surely if theyre not done properly.

wheel off, caliper apart, pads out. relevent bits clean and greased. caliper reassembled, wheel on and everything torqued.

Try paying for Porka brakes ;)

I think it's a reasonable price too. They'll probably replace wear sensors, and caliper bolts too. It isn't a 10 min job to do properly. They're your brakes for gods sake - pay the money.

probably as bad as the AP setup for the Vectra. Replacement disks are over 1k and that doesnt even include AP pads. The EBC yellowstuff ones are £86 for a pair, but if you want the original pads supplied they're more expensive still. Practically purchasing the entire kit all over again. And the kit is £1600.

Jesus. That's more then. Just having the rear discs, pads & fluid done this week. 520notes, and that's at a specialist independent, not a dealer. That's just stock parts.

Just buy the pads online and get a backstreet to do them, i havent got the right jack or torque set to do mine so i just paid someone 30 quid for back and fronts and 50 to buy them, for the sake of 30 quid i would rather pay someone as im not 100% confident.

1k for discs on a vectra, what size are they?

Edit: doesn't matter i've found them, £300 from Cortney sport plus £86 for the pads, thats just a little bit short of 1.6k for the kit?

They're the courtenays own ones yes ?

not the AP Racing ones.

AP Racing ones are the 1k ones. The standard brakes are £200 so they're stupidly over priced.

Kit is at the bottom of this page

Actually tell a lie the astra 345mm kit is £1600 parts only. The Vectra 362mm kit is £2000 parts only. Its worse than that !
