Anybody here user Xylitol? (Natural Sugar Substitute)

They've been using it in Scandinavia for decades.

It's not bad. I gather it's much much better for your insides than aspartame and the like.

I prefer to just go without sugar. After merely a week or two I find myself unable to stand the stuff now. Same for salt.

If I eat a pack of sugar free mints flavoured with this stuff (or similar) too quickly, it gives me terrible bowel pains for some reason. I looked at the back and it said something about excessive consumption causing laxative effects but it sometimes happens only after a few mints. So it's extra strong mints for me now. Weird.

I’ve used to take loads of sugar with my tea but now I’ve in cut down on my sugar intake by taking Sweetex, nice and calorie free.

We sell this stuff at our work, kinda tastes like minty sugar. If you're replacing the sugar in your tea, then do it slowly cause its like eating too many extra strong mints ;o

Gf has it in her coffee, cant really taste the difference.

It's the sorbitol that causes that!

Not really, aspartame hasn't been shown to have any health effects at normal levels or even very high levels for that matter.

yes but people read how this stuff is made and get it into their heads its terrible, and a few people who say drunk 10 litres of coke a day feel ill, and it gets the blame, because people are stupid.

For instance SO many people complain about sucralose, my mother included who comments anytime I use it on how i'm basically just eating chlorine, which is insane.

Basically they use chlorine to remove something from one substance and react with another substance and 99.9% of the chlorine will be removed and its essentially completely safe. The fact that chlorine is added to our drinking water matters not, this stuff because chlorine is used in its making just "has" to be lethal. People don't use their brains, see a word they think is bad and go barmy telling everyone the stuff is bad for you.

Frankly you breathe in, absorb through your skin, eat so much "bad" stuff all through your life anyway, the body is very very good at dealing with that, you have cynanide in your naturally, just not a lethal amount, trace amounts but its there. I wish people would get passed all this nonsense as it bores me to tears.

Omega 3 is one of the most key substances to humans, its used for untold numbers of things in your body, your brain is made up of omega 3, its probably the single key most important substance to us, yet if you ate enough of it you'd turn into a fat unhealthy whale.

i wouldn't touch fake sugar, heard it gives you cancer, and i smoke, i don't wanna do anything else to give me cancer.
Mind you i very rarely even have sugar, if i do it's in tea and only when i'm hung over, i usually drink tea black with no sugar.
