Basically, my stomach is getting a bit fatty! Rest of me is fine though!

I've started eating a bit better, but with the long hours I work I get a headache if I don't eat enough.

Question - will doing sittups help or not?!

Maybe also some running?!
Cheers.

I dont think they will IIRC They will build up muscle around your abs then push the fat outwards possibly making you look more bloated. Just eat on a calorie deficit (less calories eaten than you burn). Running is a good idea and will help a lot more than sittups ;).

Don't train just the abdominal muscles you wont lose fat locally from doing that, in fact if you work on your abs without making an effort to lose fat, you will make it look worse as the muscles will grow underneath the fat and push it out further.

Best results will come from eating healthily and getting a general exercise regime going to burn it off.

If you do sit-up's you'll just create muscle under the fat. You need to do cardio exercise to actually burn the fat.

They will both help eachother.

have you just met a woman by any chance ?
i had the same prob with stomach when i met my wife / gf at the time

In a similar position as due to injury I haven't been able to exercise since December and I do like food :)

Hopefully beginning some jogging next week if get go ahead from doc

nokinidea this is true, you cant just lose fat in one place.

There is some really good threads in mens health forum. It is more than just doing sit ups. If your serious about it you need to stop eating chocolate crisps fizzy pop and chips all the time! Get your self started on a decent mid protein low fat diet and do cardio 3 times a week.

Obv this is just a basic outline but you catch my drift. If you find it hard to get motivation try taking up something different like boxing and going swimming.

What sort of hours do you work?

Also, how does one calculate calories of random foods?

EG my normal consists of:

2 crumpets with butter
nutrigrain bar
2 rolls, normally either ham or cheese, something fillers eg tuna sweetcorn
slice of cake
Dinner is normally home cooked normal food eg chicken, veg, bla bla

How about a common sense calculator?

You can't tell me you think that might be healthy?
