now, im all for freedom of expression and protesting the establishment in meaningful ways, but these guys really dont have a clue.

Im from Aberdeen and a lot of my colleagues saw this happen on the way to work.

You just have to laugh at these clowns, they say that their aim was to try and stop as much c02 being put into the atmosphere as possible by halting flights... but if you play devils advocate and buy their fuzzy logic that c02 drives climate change then all they did was infact increase the ammount of c02 today.. not to mention targetting one of the smallest airports in the UK that drastically needs expanding, the police, firemen, security heaps of vehicles got mobilised, their fire-engines and police cars etc.. expel c02, the planes that were about to take off still had their engines running.. i mean its not like a car when you can switch it on and off quickly... and then the same planes still took off but to top it all off they also managed to slightly delay a team of pediatric paramedics going to Inverness to see a baby. what a bunch of muppets.

next they will be assaulting the grass airfield near my village because they are building another wooden club house lol.

The point is it's a demonstration, and it's purpose is to get attention for their cause. They weren't trying to reduce CO2 that day, but have a long term goal to reduce it.

I would have let the planes land and take off. I am all for protests but protests that cause delays and potential death.

Wonder how much extra CO2 was burnt while the planes had to circle or divert to another airport.

Charge em under anti terrorist laws and lock em away for a few years. They wont do it again.

Waste of time these numptys along with the anti fur protestors, and anti war protestors and just about every other kind of protester who doesn't have a job and wastes peoples time being complete idiots. Not time for them at all.

Why can't they go stand on the M25 and try to stop traffic. Cars cause more CO2 than aircraft anyway. They should be charged for entering the secure area of an airport.

Either that or just let the planes land anyway. Watch them run or be injested.

Or protest against IT even - that produces an almost identical figure than that of the global airline industry

Its fine to protest.

Cant believe people are saying arrest them under terrorist acts.

What a joke, this is a democracy, not a police state (actually er...)

"They draped a banner across the front of the terminal building, close to the BAA Aberdeen sign, which said "Nae Trump games with climate change". "

I dont see how the banner draping is a serious offence.

Im sure NU Labrador has a way to screw them somehow.

At least they were standing up for what they believe in, not enough people do in the UK.

But they also impeded some essential transport. The Forresterhill hospital serves most of the UK North of Aberdeen for emergencies, they didn't really think that through.
Deonstrate, but keep it legal

Er seems not...

"Nine people have been charged after protesters barricaded themselves inside a "wire fortress" on the tarmac at Aberdeen Airport.

Seven people were detained on an airport taxiway at about 0820 GMT, five hours after the protest by campaign group Plane Stupid began."

They where on an airport taxi way. They entered a secure zone without clearance. They should have the full weight of the law chucked at them.

Last time they got £120 fine...
