Almost as impressive as Spie's Ferrari thread...

A service won't cost £500, that's just what he's being given to service it with.

If you want to sell it, don't sell it to wepaywayundermarketvalueforanycar.

reading up on webuyanycar it seems unlikely they'll give what they quote, so less like to make the trip to be honest, might just use the money on smartening up my car as it is.

Just wanted a bit more poke tbh but maybe its not to be this time :/

Put it on eBay with Buy it Now or Best Offer on it, and see what you can get :)

Worth a shot, and you dont have to do much either :D

What about a Rover 800 Vitesse Coupe ?

They are cheap, reliable, and can munch miles better than a Mundano.

All the toys, full leather, quick too.

You cant go wrong.

I should add it has enormous leg room too, so should be ideal.

Parts are cheap, and fuel economy isnt too bad.

Since when has a Rover been reliable? Not to mention a better mile muncher than a Mondeo? I beg to differ mate, he can go VERY wrong with a Rover imo.

Had the Rover been so great, don't you think fleet managers would have gone for it over the more pricey Mondeo & 3 Series?
They didn't due to the Rover being a piece of crap that was well behind the times in both build quality & driver appeal.

Whilst the likes of Ford may be on their knees, wheres Rover these days~? Oh yes, they went out of business due to nobody buying the crap they sold.

Anyway, as I've just spent £1k + my old Mondeo on one, I can't really not recommend an e36 3 Series, I'm 6'3" and fit in one with ample head room, RWD, and well built.

FWIW, mine cost me £900 + 6Mths Tax + my Mondeo (which is a wreck) from a dealer, for that, its been serviced, new battery and a 3 mth warranty. :)

I may collect it later today if I get up early enough (I start work @ 2PM)

how many times have you actually driven/been in a vitesse? the build quality is not cheap they have half leather recaro seats back and front with bucket seats in the front which are very comfy, they have VERY few problems and none of this HGF crap and are well specced even compared to a lot of todays cars so Im not sure where you got that from

A good friend of mine ran an 800 for a while, followed by a later Vitesse.

I also used to work in the motor trade where I can tell you Rovers in general were poorly regarded, the ones we took in p-ex ended up at the auction as they were ,in our experience, not worth the hassle to sell on.

I never said the Rover was bad to drive, actually, they were not too bad at all from behind the wheel - I have driven a few you see - They were let down by electrical gremlins & shoddy build quality.

The Mondeo & others are simply in a different league.

Comfy seats don't make a great car and did I even mention HGF? No, you did.

This is academic anyway, were Rover's any good customers would have carried on buying them and they would not have gone bust. Imo, my describing them as "crap" is underlined by the fact the company failed and no longer exists in any form worth caring about.

the main reason being they had to make cut backs I suppose as the company was going down and it does show in small areas, I wouldnt say the build quality is shoddy I have seen worse (peugot 306 for example) the fuse box is a known weakspot as the joints become dry causing issues but its an easy fix and the only real weak point, trounced by similar aged luxury cruisers but I dont think we are going to agree on that :P

Probably not, but since when was a Mondeo regarded as a "Luxury Cruiser" anyway? ;)

Anyway, the Horse is dead, lets not flog it any more. :D

I was comparing it to the BMW you bought not the mondeo didnt really make that clear though! why are you up so early dont you have work !:p

Fair enough. :)

I'm up early as I'm a night driver, I start @ 2PM and finish anytime between 1 & 5AM, today was about 3:30.

Anyway, I'm off to bed now, I'm back in @ 2PM :(

Vittys were let down by electrical gremlins, shame as they are a lovely car. Pees all over the Mondeo tbh, as does the 400 I drive now, and yes I have driven both.

I drove a 1.8 LX on a T plate, and it was just... boring? After about 5 miles I was totally fed up, it's no fun and not particularly comfy either. Not to mention the fact it drinks more than council estate chavs at a free bar, the owner says he gets about 260-300 miles to a tank. Even my old 400 would do better than that, I could get 350 miles plus no problem.

HGF also isn't an issue if you get a diesel, or look after a petrol. :)
