Flying out to Krakow tonight, my brother and i are off to go and see Auschwitz, Birkenau, Schindlers Factory and the Salt Mines etc.. should be interesting... not the oridinary type of holiday though.. i mean, who needs sun, sea and surf when you have Nazi Death camps lol.

Just wondered if anyone has been before and if theirs any advice? i havent really done much research on Poland itself.

Will you be venturing into the Krakow night life?

I was there on a football tour last summer and I'm pretty sure I fell in love about 10 times a night, the females are amazing!

Went to Poznan last summer. Seems a nice place, there's a lot of money for development and some parts are looking pretty sweet. Wasn't even the capital as well...

Tak :D

The salt mines at Wieliczka are a must, and Aushwitz too. The smaller camp was much much worse for me than the massive birkenau, although the massive covering of snow with stunning sunset did give birkenau the most amazing look as the sun was setting. Soo much beauty in such a horrible place. Got a minibus to Wieliczka, watch out for taxi drivers in Krakow offering you very good rates, they are not ;) Got the proper bus to Auschwitz which stops just outside the main centre and cost peanuts even though it took well over an hour.

I went about 3 years ago and it was dirt cheap, especially eating out. When eating out just find the restaurants that are underground in little caverns, the food is stunning, vodka served in proper large shot glasses, and the waitresses better looking than all english women :D

The women over there really are out of this world, just watch out for the funny head shaped boy friend/ husband fighting a tank bare handed. The poles don't give it all the mouth that the pussy English do in a fight, they go in hard and fast, talking and drinking saved for afterwards ;)

No, it means hi arse.

Anyways, I go there every summer due to having family there, but personally I wouldn't know much other reasons to go there, perhaps for cheap labour ( eg. work on car or similar)... Or wintersport in the south which will obviously be much cheaper than Austria/France/Switzerland or Italy... Oh and finally there's a lot of cheap food and booze, much better than anywhere in western Europe.

Why go to Poland? England is already like living in Poland.

lol, im not in England im up in Scotland but i get what your saying ;).. but im just off to see some WWII memorials, i read a lot about WWII especially the german perspective and obviously Poland figured quite heavily during the Third Reich.

....snip...

thanks for the advice, my bro booked a company who give us a guide for like £30 to Auschwitz, the Salt Mines and Schindlers factory, obviously each one takes a day and its £30 per day.. i think he booked it because he doesnt really know much about the places. Apart from the Salt Mines i dont think i need a guide for £30 a day but i guess im gonna have to pay it.

the worrying thing is they offered to pick us up form the airport and my Bro arranged for them to take us to our Hotel for like £15. and after watching Films like Hostel im just paranoid about them now lol.

And in regards to the Poles taking no prisoners, i saw that down in London... im a little weedy scottish guy so i hope i wont seem like a threat to any of those guys, i saw a Ross Kemp 'on Gangs' the other night about the Hooligans in Cracow and needless to say im staying well away from any football stadium or wearing any football shirts of any kind lol.

well, im off to pack, my Bro booked wierd flights... like 5am from Glasgow, driving down at 12am tonight.. i mean wtf? crazy times for begining a holiday imo and we arent even flying via Amstderdam, we have a day to spend in London :(... next time i think organising everything.
