Let me first point out, i HATE british rap. It is ridiculous hearing british accents rapping, so cringeworthy!

I remember when 'the streets' came out and it was kinda rappy, i couldn't believe what i was hearing, it was soo annoyingly bad...but then it got so annoyingly catchy, 1st album anyway. I was sure they weren't meant to be taken seriously but then they started taking thereselves serious and they bombed.

Now...after years, we have the annoyingly whiney dizzee rascal trying to bring british rap up to the level enjoyed by their USA equivalents years ago only someone forgot to tell them that USA rap died a long time ago and turned into whiney hip hop/RnB.

But here's where the problem is...N Dubz, when i first heard them, i thought, oh dear, what is this drivel. And some of the lyrics i laughed at and couldn't believe they said it.....but the more i listen to their catchy songs, the more i think they are so bad they're good.

Does anyone else have guilty music they like?

Dizzy raarrrskouw (no 'l' in there)
He's released like, what 2 records? yeah...pppppffffffffff!
Yeah, english accented rap does sound ridiculous, cos they all sound chav-like....innit!

holy mackeral, that n-dubs chick is hot.
The 2 goobers with her epitomise all that is wrong with british rap/hip-hop.
what a pair of gangstaaa-wannabe tossers

i hate the 'rap' songs they have on the radio, the uk 'artists' are utter tosh

just heartless crap music tbh.

Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip are awesome though, 'Look For The Woman' especially

Maybe you'll find guys like Jehst, Braintax, Taskforce and Klashnekoff a bit more umm, bearable. Or if you wanted you could go further back to examples like Hijack, Gunshot, Son of Noise, Silver Bullet and others who were all mostly trying to forge their own sound instead of directly copying US hip hop.

As for my guilty musical pleasure, I have albums by both William Shatner and Steven Seagal...and I like them. :D

What!? What is 'grime'?

Wikipedia said:
Grime music is typified by complex 2-step breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute and constructed from "different" sounds.[1] Stylistically, grime takes from many genres including UK Garage, dancehall and hip hop.[2] The lyrics and music combine futuristic electronic elements and dark, guttural bass lines.

Dizzie Rascal's first album is amazing. Not such a big fan of his later stuff though.

Thou Shalt Always Kill never fails to raise a smile from me.

No love for Goldie Lookin' Chain here? :p

WHAT ?

whiney hip hop/RnB is whiney hip hop/RNB and always has been !

the good stuff still exsists in big quantitys. its just its much less popular compared to RnB (but it always has been really?)

Letter from god to man tbh ;)

I listen to things like lamb of god, slipknot and whitechapel, but dan le sac is one of my favourite artists because of what he does with words.

It sums it up when John Barnes is officially the most successful British rapper of all time.

N.B Not sure if that it still true but it certainly was until recently!

Goldie Lookin' Chain are entirely spoof surely (at least I hope so anyway).

Anyway as for guilty music, I feel a bit guilty about being into Linkin Park a few years back. "I tried so hard, and come so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter..." etc.
