Cadbury Goes fairtrade

I am right in saying fairtrade just enables companies to use produce from foriegn countries thus giving more opportunity to farmers etc in terms of income...or...:o?

Fair trade always seems to cost twice as much, and usually not taste as nice as other chocolate...
Hope they don't change Dairy Milk.

Im unconvinced. So in the last few years they are moving from suspected purchases (but not quite proven because nobody could get near the plantations) of cocoa from forced labour to claiming fair trade?

They've a lot of work to do before I would consider this legitimate.

Also they use as little as half the amount of cocoa in some of their cack products as real chocolate companies so I'm not quite sure what they are aiming for here other than aesthetics.

I find FairTrade chocolate tastes a lot better than normal Dairy Milk, Galaxy etc.

Principally because it normally contains enough cocoa solids to actually qualify as chocolate and taste nice.

Run that by me again, you only buy "Fairtrade" goods?

no not really i'm only human :(

I started about 10 years ago when i stop eating chocolate after finding out how some of the chocolate is sourced (never had any chocolate for about a year till i found out about fairtrade), the shortly after that i cut out caffine (inc coke :( ) then i cut certain food like bannanas, etc etc. Like i say i do what i can i'm not perfect but slowly i get better :D

Really? In my opinion it tastes like a pig has excreted it from its arse.

Don't get me started on fairtrade coffee. It has the same sort of taste that you'd get in your washbowl after doing the dishes if you havent changed the water.

From OP source:

This groundbreaking move will result in the tripling of sales of cocoa under Fairtrade terms for cocoa farmers in Ghana,

Does this mean other producers will suffer from a loss of sales?

You sir are consuming the wrong fair trade products, as with all other markets there are good examples and bad!

As to fairtrade in general I've got to say i'm not a fan it just underminds good old fashioned capitalism and free trade.
