Hi, I am looking for a PC Game Mag which mainly looks at FPS games, but also included other games, does not cost a lot of money. Which gives you GOOD freebies :P. and some hardwear review. Does interviews with the Game makers.

I am reading PCZONE, but the reviews seem boring. PCGAMER is to much MMO.

Anyone?

None of them are any good. I used to read PC Gamer and Custom PC but I found that CPC would often be a month or two behind the real world (not their fault, admittedly), and PCG was often just one big pat on the back to Valve for creating HL2.

I'd just use the internet. :)

GamesTM and EDGE magazines are pretty good for a broad spectrum of games (multi platform though) and industry related articles, interviews with developers and all sorts.

Total PC Gaming was excellent when it was priced at 3.99. Then they latched onto the whole 'add a CD and charge 5.49' and it aint such good value anymore. Large MMO section though.

PC Format's not too bad but they don't seem quite as intelligent recently as I remember them being. Luis is a **** though.

I've read PCZone, PCGamer, PCFormat and Edge. Most mags tend to be expensive and the goodies on the 'free' discs are varied, pot luck really. My fav though was probably Zone though its been ages since I've read any publications. I'd just stick to the net.

Yeah, they were very vocal about not having a CD but oddly quiet when they added one and jacked up the price to cover the “free” gifts.

Still the best PC gaming mag. Very good hardware and MMO sections, with little fluffy and nonsense you get in PC Zone and PC Gamer.

PC Zone / PC Gamer = both good magazines, don't really read anything else related to PC gaming.

The writing is on the wall for PC only magazines looking at the thickness of the last PC Gamer and PC Format. Remembers the final days of Amiga Format and Amiga Shopper, pamphlet sized by the end :(

Yeah I sit on on a PC a good 8 hours in work and probs will sit on it a lot more when i game at home, I can't be botherd to sit on a PC on my break reading about gaming reviews when i do that at home sometimes.

I agree Game Mags cost LOADS now days, and I also have a PS3/DS/and PSP. So i will also start buying a PS3 mag soon most likley.

I think i will have to buy a couple of PC gaming mags and compare them to decide which one i will suscribe 2 :)

I just don't like the MMO section in TotalPc gamer but overall its a good mag :O

Was completely miffed when I was looking for a mindless PC game read and saw the price hike + CD of "free" ****.
I remember the first issue, they harked on about the awesome cheapness, not having a crazed price due to the lack of attached cover rubbish.

There is little need for magazines to include an included cover disk now, the high price just causes people to see sense and read online reviews...

PC Zone and PC Gamer are both owned by the same publisher now. You sometimes get the same basic article in both, just jigged around a bit to make it look different. I don't trust the review scores for either, especially when they get an exclusive.

Games TM is very good and extremely honest, but it's multiformat. Total PC Gaming as mentioned above is a PC specific mag by the same publisher - it started a bit rough but I think it's pretty good at the moment. Covers the same areas PC Gamer and Zone do, give it a try.

I haven't subscribed to these magazines in ages, there isn't anything they will tell you that you can't find out online already. They often have bias opinions depending on which companies the editors are friends with and who pays for adverts, etc, etc. I've seen amazing games get rated poorly.

If you need a review, just look at anything by zero punctuation. I'd say as satirical as he is; he is usually spot on :)

zero punctuation is funny :D i like it.

Well Total PC Gaming might be the mag i will look into.

Thanks for all your comments, yeah obviously i will look online, but a lot of online reviews also are a load of crap "Farcry 2 scoring 90%" :| after 2 hours i turned it off and nether botherd with it again lol.
