British 'rap', how cringeworthy are thee?! But...guilty pleasures?

The songs are catchy. Good in a club, good to drive to.

The artists are SCUM though. Their songs have the same sentiment. I'm sick of hearing records about pimping women, drinking Cristal, having 'cash in my pocket.' They must have the most boring lives. I also think if the average population IQ was higher they wouldn't even be in the charts. All the chavs worship that sort of lifestyle. When will people realise there are more important things than such extreme wealth. What would you rather have? £100 million in the bank and terminal cancer, or a normal lifestyle and health/happiness. Basically, I don't have anything against the "sound" of Rap/Hip-Hop but all the popular artists at present are *****.

We can all take solace in one thing though. If the average OCUK forum user saved up and bought an M3. They'd enjoy that to a much larger extent than if a rap artist bought an Enzo.

I'd be so bored. I can't believe people aspire to be like that.

I'd rather set up a company, earn lots of dosh, have a wife (women are not sex objects and people who treat them as such are scum and should have their faces smashed in) and enjoy life's luxuries in a non-nouveau-riche fashion. I.e. drink Cristal at dinner parties, not in a night club purely to show off.

I'd rather be, Spie, for example than Akon.

Most people will realise this when they've got out the "omg pimp my saxo" phase.

Well the sole function of every species on the planet is to reproduce so if that's how you want to define people as "sex objects" then fine :D
 
+1 for the Streets - I don't make a habit of admitting it, but I do like them - the newest album especially.

if you step just 1 step away from the mainstream you will find plenty of good rap/hiphop without that stuff in it/

agree with you on them only being popular due to stupidity though. theyre all very good at promotion and marketing

LUL WUT? Are you saying all successful rappers have terminal cancer? If not then what has that got to do with anything?

It's a general point about wrong priorities, rappers have nothing to do with it.

My ambition is to have a long, healthy, happy life. Obviously I don't want to be poor but I have no desire to be stinking rich either.

I appreciate some people would rather be stinking rich and not really care about their health. We're all different.
