I have a friend coming home from a long trip away travelling and I would quite like to film the moment they return and see family members as obviously it will be quite emotional etc. If I walk round an airport with a small digital HD video camera am I likely to run into issues with security and be told to put it away?
I only want to film the bit where they see family for the first time only a few minutes worth.

Cheers

if you keep the camera hidden and only take it out when they come out then my guess is you will be fine.

if you walk around the airport filming random things before they arrive, any good security would approach you to see what you are doing.

Surely an airport is not neccessarily classed as "public" - the site belongs to somebody so you could be asked to not take photos.
Similar situation to a shopping center - you can be asked to stop taking pictures.

Personally I'd ask before the date just to be sure.

It's easier to apologise than seek permission IMO...I bought my D90 in duty-free at Heathrow and had no issues immediately unboxing it and walking around taking pictures of the aeroplanes.
