I'm Off to Poland, anyone been before?

Is it just me or all do poles look the same and where the same sort of clothes? It's like Liverpool in the 90's, shell suits everywhere. (Based on my findings in S-o-A).

the worrying thing is they offered to pick us up form the airport and my Bro arranged for them to take us to our Hotel for like £15. and after watching Films like Hostel im just paranoid about them now lol.

Don't worry, the taxis are ok, you will get to your hotel in about twenty minutes.

Enjoy your trip. :)

krakow is a great place to stay, unfortunately its a bit cold there at the moment so you wont be able to enjoy it as much as you would in the warmer months, where they often have big shows in the main square, and all the bars and restaurants are outside seating, theres usually a lot of americans there and all shop/bar staff speak english in this city, although they dont cope well with scottish accents so may make no difference to you lol.

If youre making your own way to Auschwitz from krakow just remember its Oświęcim you want to go to, Auschwitz is the german name, its a very short bus drive from the station there and the driver is used to telling tourists where to get off, get there early morning, it takes a long time to see everything, theres some very interesting stories and pictures in the old polish army barracks which was the original Auschwitz before they built birkenau, and it takes AGES to see it all, you will come away absolutely hating German people.

.

Don't worry about the poles, they are friendly enough. I only warn people as there are plenty of english who like to shout there mouth off and puff there chest out. Doesn't work over there.

Not a bad price fro the airport. We paid a fiver each for a return journey from the airport in a comfy mercedes type minibus to krakow. We flew into some airport about 1.5hrs away, which name escapes me. Great value and they picked us up again on time 3 days later.

Just booked to go myself, 5 days in July for a stag do! As long as I get to fire some guns I will be happy :)

It might be cold at the moment but this makes it an ideal time to visit Auschwitz - it's all the more harrowing in the snow. I went in March and it was whipping up a proper blizzard.

Got lots more pics but no time to resize etc at the mo

I went to Lodz in January. There were no boozed up Brits as its not one of the stag resorts (I think we were the only English people in the city!). The locals were really friendly towards us.

It was a really good weekend, it was pretty cold but sunny and nice with snow on the ground. The city centre was quite nice and scenic but the suburbs were just endless seas of soulless commie blocks.

It was quite cheap, we worked out the bus from the airport was 38p or something. A meal for 5 plus a couple of rounds of drinks was <£30. Polish cuisine isn't the best, mostly just meat dishes..everything served with cabbage! They have this drink which is bison grass vodka and apple juice which is really nice and its on offer everywhere.

Oh yeh someone might have mentioned...the women are stunning!!
