Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

omg this game online is doing my head in.

sick of people doing the same moves over and over and over again, why does no one do combos omggggg

play vs zangief - spin spin spin spin throw spin spin, yawn. play vs ryu = jump kick sweep, jump kick sweep, ken, dragon punches.. after drgaon punches...

does anyone know there are other buttons?!?!

You should be easily thrashing those players and rising up the ranks then to face stiffer competition.

It is annoying when you first encounter someone doing repetitive moves as it takes a round or two to work out how to counter them.

I played someone as Blanka who mostly just sat there doing the electricity special and as I play a character without a fireball it took me a while to figure a way round it.

Do tell, i actually spent a round with pseudo doing that just to see if i could find a reliable way of beating it.... i didn't

Sweep him, as far as I know he has no hit box low down.

Whats up with the matchmaking in SFIV? I've just spent the past 5 minutes spamming the search button and every match I select is either full or unable to connect. I literally can't get a game. My connection to live is fine and last time I checked my NAT was open. I'm slightly worried it might be my isp as I know they block a lot of ports but I got them to open up the ones for xbox live.

Host a ranked game and someone will join pretty quickly. At least that's the case on the PS3 (same issues exist while searching for a game). I think it's down to the automated system for matching up players when they enable it in arcade mode; they're snatching up players faster than you can find them.

Right guys I know this has been spilled over but now that its out and every one has had a chance to utilise it to the max i would like to ask a question about sticks

My local computer game retailer has one of the Madcatz Official Street Fighter IV FightStick for Sony PS3.

Now are these actually any good or am i throwing money away essentially and should hold out and get a more expensive one?

I'm not very good but would like to as i like the depth the game has and be great to thrash my mates :D

So what does every one think, especially those who have that particular stick ?

cheers

Man, I just went on a horrible losing streak. For whatever reason I couldn't play tonight, ended up dropping around 300bp. In training I'm fine and most of the time I can pull off Sagat's tiger uppercut>FADC>f+hk>Ultra but when it comes to a match I resort to the same old tired tactics and completely forget all I've learnt, throw too many heavy uppercuts, whiff my ultra and lose. Very frustrating. Wanted to chuck my hori out the window.

What a difference a day makes. I decided to go back to basics this evening and play a more conservative game relying on the things I knew I could do, not taking too many risks and hoping to capitalise on any mistakes my opponent made. Result was I went 10-0 on ranked and got the achievement :D

Finally got a copy of this today, just waiting for the footie to finish before I have my first play

Who's the best person to start of with? I would probably just go for one of the usual suspects (Ken or Ryu)

What's the definitive way to unlock Gouken? You get different answers depending on what you read.

I've tried playing through on easiest with Akuma and getting 2 perfect rounds and 3 ultra combo finishes but still no joy.

I would actually recommend being anyone but them. Ken and Ryu are far too overused online and because of that generally predictable, there are however exceptions (i'm looking at you ojste).

Experiment and find a character you feel comfortable with, aside from Dan they all seem pretty even (i would go as far as saying he's a joke character; so easy to beat). One of the best things about choosing to play as one of the lesser known characters is you're more likely to bump into someone who doesn't know what he/she is capable of. Perfect example of this is fighting pseudo today, he chose cammy, i spent one round staring at her buttocks and a second round trying to figure out how the hell to counter her special moves.

Most Ryu and Ken players are cannon fodder to me now.

Play with Akuma, set it to easiest and 1 round, get 2 perfects and 3 ultra finishes, no more or no less, exactly this amount. After you beat Seth he should appear, once you beat him if he doesn't get unlocked do the same thing again.

For some reason I reached Gouken, beat him but he wasn't unlocked, I think I did the above twice and he was there.

ryu is a very solid character and has most/all of the basics covered so hes a very good starting character. hes more user friendly than ken and stronger too.

ken is better on the offensive but you must capitalise on that to make him effective, otherwise hes just a weaker ryu.

the character you use should suit the way you play but this will probably take a while so take your time and experiment.

I read you have to get the first attack in a few times too.

Did you finish the game with Akuma first and watch his ending? You don't need to beat Gouken with Akuma, anyone who you have already finished the game with will do (I did it with Ryu) but you must have finished it with Akuma to unlock Gouken.
