Is this PS3 worth buying?

Also, when I saw Grand theft Auto on my friends PS3 on a 28" CRT tv it was very hard to read the icons. Will I not get that problem on my TV ?
definately not i played gta4 on my 22" monitor for about a week(crystal clear picture) before i noticed some dead pixels, the place where i bought it from repaired it but it took about a week and so i played gta on my tv and i had to stop playing it after an hours or so because i couldnt even read the phone messages

A few game recommendations if you're after them:

Like RPGs, specifically JRPGs? Get Valkyria Chronicles

Fan of shooters? Get killzone 2 (and a net connection!)

Fan of arcade racers? Get Motorstorm pacific rift

Fan of semi realism racers? Get Ferrari Challenge

Fan of Action Platformers? Get Drakes Fortune

Fan of Old School Platformers? Get Little Big Planet

That is all.

Don't do a reset!

Not yet anyway. Id check for downloaded PSN games and stuff as he may have left them on there for you and if his account is still on there they will all be accessible and stuff even from your own account. Id only wipe it if everything is locked out etc. :D

Oh man, I have only had half an hour on this so far because of work and only played F1 championship edition and it looks superb. I really don't know what to play next.

I may even stick casino royal on BR and see what all the fuss is about.

I really think I got a good deal.

Only thing that was mentioned incorrectly was the controller is six axis not dual shock. Are the Dual shocks worth the money though ? as to be honest I will need to buy another controller for friends coming round.

Thx for the tips.
one more question: how big is a demo game usually?
I think 40g will do me just fine. most my divx movie is on disk anyway.

Yes, much better than the sixaxis imo. When i got a 40gig i imported a dualshock 3 and my mates were relegated to the sixaxis when they played. Fortunately my parents bought themselves a 80gig and i promptly switched their DS3 with a sixaxis... i doubt they'll ever notice.

Depends tbh, some are 500mb, some are 1.5gig. I get by fine with a 40gig and have around 10 PSN games installed, couple of demos and a few full game installs. Keep in mind many games need to be installed to the harddrive, the advantages of this are fast loading times which is nice.

Can someone who has a PS3 with a Plasma tell me the settings I should have have switched on/off etc within the PS3 menu for games/videos etc.

Just to make sure it is set up correctly and I am getting the best out of it.

It is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Audio is connected to the TV on same HDMI cable

just waiting on the post man to deliver a optical cable so I can connect PS3 to my AV amp for audio only
