How were we hustled???

i've only done it once, I hustled the hustler.

Told him i'd start with a fiver and go up from there as I wanted to make sure I could do it.

Bet £5 and won £5 back.

Bet £10 and won £10 back.

Then turned around and said I'd pushed my luck enough and walked off :D

Near the end of the video, he doest even move his hands near the bottle caps and the pea still moves. how?
If you watch closely you will see when he puts the cap down supposedly on top of the pea, he actually rolls the cap forward on top of the pea and picks up the pea from behind, then it is a much simpler task to put the pea wherever he wants it.

(I think)

It takes a lot of practice to do it right.

Doesn't this hustle go back before the birth of Christ, I thought it was regarded historically as one of the oldest tricks ever documented.

how does he get the pea from his right hand accross to his left, his left never touched the cap?

When he lifts the 2 caps on either side and says "nothing here", he puts another pea under each one. You can see him slide them back over the top of the peas he drops.

Then when he shows you the pea under each side cap he does not put the cap back down on top of the pea - watch closely. He then picks up each pea and shows the middle one again and the 2 empty side ones.

Watch it incredibly closely.

'There's no pea here'
'There's no pea here'
'The pea starts right there'

Nothing has moved at this point.

Then he picks up the outside two tops again and says:

'Nothing under here'

As he puts the tops down notice how he puts them down and drags them backwards a bit.

He has basically put a pea down behind each of them and then dragged the tops over it.

There is now a pea under each of the 3 tops.

'All you have to do is watch for the pea'

He then shows that the middle pea is still there and the assumption is that the other two must still be empty.

'Here we go'

'If I wanted to I could I could put the pea here'

And he shows the pea under the left hand top.

Notice how after showning the pea, he puts the top down and then pushes it forward - he 'missed' the pea and then picked it up as part of the slide.

'Or I could put the pea here'

Now shows the right hand top with the pea under it - same as with the left one.

Again, as he puts the top down he pushes forward slightly and picks the pea up.

'The pea of course is right there'

And shows the pea under the middle top - and then shows that the other two are empty.

The pea under the middle top never moved - it was there the whole time. He just made you believe it must have been moving by seeing a pea appear and disappear under the other tops.

This happens in Barcelona on a daily basis on La Rambla, 1 guy as the dealer with one player winning and losing to gain interest from tourists. 2/3 watchers 20ft or so away from the game as lookouts who interchange with the player on a regular basis.

Seen so many people get lured into the simple logic of winning easy money...and then losing a lot.

Last time we went Barca me and the mrs saw it kick off when a bunch of Canadian guys lost - they were not impressed :)

i already knew about setups but thought id have a go at trying to win some money anyway, or just have a go to say ive 'been there done that' ...

Christ. How do your other 'been there done that" anecdotes start?

"So, I saw the soap on the floor...."
