Earlobe stretching...

Mate of mine has not only his lobes stretched to a huge size (when he takes the plugs out it just leaves horrid ragged holes you can easily put 2 fingers through), but also stretched his labret (center lower lip for those who don't know). Has to have a plug in there constantly too - if he removes that.....yeah.....

Both lobes are around 24ish mm (got 22mm plugs in with loads of PTFE tape around them - far superior to electrical tape), lip (a labret is lower) at 6mm which is perfect for spitting beer, septum at 6mm and tongue at 8mm. The others aren't for discussion on a family forum...

Mutilate yourself and make yourself stand out like a sore thumb thus limiting your job prospects for the rest of your life. Seriously, why bother? It looks terrible.

Awwww! They're all so dinky! :p

The best advice I can give is GO SLOW!

Wait 8-12 weeks between stretches.

If you go slow and pay attention to your body then you won't tear your skin. If you don't tear your skin then you won't get infections and if you actually wash yourself then it will never smell.

After nearly 9 years I'm almost at 1". I have all the time in the world. I'm not going to ruin my nice, fat and healthy lobes just to get a few mm bigger too quickly.

What would happen if you took it out? Would you just have a floppy ear lobe or would it heal over time? I only ask because 1" seems like a pretty big hole to have in your ear.

It has never caused me any problems.

Int, these are from a couple of weeks ago:

You really aint got a clue tbh. I have mine stretched and its never caused me a problem and I work in a company thats suited and booted. Fair play, when I go to meetings or have meetings here, or say I have visitors coming in I switch the tunnel for a plug, so that way, it doesnt look too much like I have a 'hole' in my lobes.

Same goes for interviews. But to be stereotypical and say ' It will limit your prospects for a job' is just silly. IMO

Because I've gone so slowly, mine would probably shrink loads over time. A year or two with frequent vitamin E rubs would most likely see me down to single figures.

Although if I 'needed' normal lobes again, I'd do it with a scalpel and sutures.

I can honestly see a lot of people in their mid-to-late teens realising over the next couple of years that because they stretched too fast, incorrectly, so that they could have little tunnels like their friends/favourite pop star, that they are stuck with holes which won't shrink when their tastes in fashion move on.

Which means a lot of money for a couple of friends of mine who are skilled with a scalpel and needle.

To the OP, wait 4-6 weeks between stretches as a minimum. We measure size in diameter but your ear actually sees a stretch in circumference.

Do the maths; 1-5mm diameter may not seem much to you but work out the difference in circ.

PS: I sell tunnels from as small as 2mm ;)

from keeping clean point of view, not too bad. Get a cotton swap in some white spirit twice a day, or it does goo up quite fast and get smelly.
Make sure that you also sterilize the jewellery too.
And isnt the 4mm smaller at one end than the other?
Just stick the thin end in and twist it progressively through. There is a recommended length of time to wait, but i cant remember offhand.

By the way, if it weren't obvious, you should ignore everything in that post.

I currently look like this:

Excuse the strange angle...I'm lying on the sofa.

Penski, where do you sell tunnels? I'm currently looking to switch over to those once I hit around 5mm. Going to buy a couple normal ones, and been looking at some UV ones for going out :)

I have an opinion so that gives me the justification to make a statement. There is no shadow of a doubt that I believe this would hinder your job prospects. I work closely with investment banks and investment managers and I can assure you that you would not even get through the door with a hole in your ear. Same goes for visible tattoos and piercings. I'd imagine a vast majority of other respectful industries would be the same as well.

Funny you say that, I actually work for a major bank, dealing with investments & management on a daily basis.
